Today, we´re having a storm here in Portugal, it´s been raining all day. Algarve is in orange alert. With the crazy weather affecting the world (too hot in Australia, floods in Brasil, snow in US, etc), in my case, it´s better to stay home and do the house chores.
Today, it´s Entrecard "Top Droppers Day". Officialy, I didn´t join but I´m working on my usual "Thank You Droppers" post.
Next week, I´d like to finally post the awards I received from my fellow EC bloggers. I recently removed the awards from my sidebar because I want to create a page just for them. I still haven´t used the header link zone so I can create a link there to a page with all Night Clicks awards.

Blogger Status: Busy as a Bee
Hi everyone.
Last night, was a long night for me. I was online until late hours because I had a few tasks I couldn´t miss. As I mentioned in a previous post, the current situation makes us work more for less but, after ten days without earning, is like take it or leave it.
Yesterday, I also worked on my Portuguese blog and tried to catch up with comments.
Because I went to bed so late, this morning I feel asleep and missed one of my Thursday tasks which is taking my daughter to English lessons.
As my post tittle says, I´ve been busy as a bee. I have a handful of things to do at the same time and the hours of the day aren´t enough. Right now, besides school and house chores I have to organize my daughter´s birthday party and prepare my mother´s flat to rent again because tenants are leaving this weekend. The family mini real state business is a part of my life I rarely blog about but it´s a task I´ve been doing in the past decade. Well, I´m off to do the house chores. See you later.

If you started as a newbie, just like me, you´ll notice that everyday we have a chance to learn something new.
In my blogging journey, I learned most things I know from other bloggers and websites. So, whatever blog type you have, it´s a good idea to read other sites and socialize with other webmasters. We have much to gain if we don´t stay isolated in the blogosphere.
Currently, in my spare time (which isn´t much) I´m trying to improve my little HTML knowledge. If you check my blog about free resources you´ll find a recent post about this topic with a few urls of educational websites.

Student Life: Payments and Progress
Hi.
I just made the second payment of my school´ taxes. Ouch...it hurts a bit but, at least, I can rest my mind for three more months. In three months I´ll make my last payment for this year.
Regarding the project, my progress isn´t as much as needed. My thesis topic is "Social Representations". I already found a good number of articles and useful references but I haven´t found the time to do all the reading. Days fly by. I dedicate most afternoons to this project but things are a bit stuck. I already read some articles but not enough to start writing.
I really need to start writing but it just seems I haven´t read enough. I´m affraid of what we call "plagio", also known as duplicate content. I think it´s a very bad thing for a student to do so I need to be careful and avoid it.
Maybe, if I dedicate more time to my project I can finish it in time. I really need to do this because I don´t want to spend another year in school. I know it´s hard to find jobs in my area and when I finish my course I will be unemployed but, right now, I just want to get it done. It feels I´ve been studying forever...

My Favorite Fashion Item
When it comes to fashion, most women have some specific tastes and preferences. Some like certain pieces of clothes while others prefer accessories and bags. All women I know like to collect or have a fixation on some fashion object. For example, I have a close friend that has over fifty pair of shoes and matching bags.
Personally, I like comfortable boots, wallets and sunglasses. I don´t collect them like my friend does but I have a few items of each, except sunglasses because with vision lens they´re a bit expensive to have many. If you remember my last post about this topic, then you know what type of footwear I like. I mentioned some Tactical Tailor Website where I can find all the boots that I like. No, they´re not really army boots, they´re just the most comfortable and resistant footwear money can buy. I know this year high heels boots are in but no one could make me ware one of those.

The Year of the Ox
Talking about celebrations. Some of my fellow bloggers from the Orient are celebrating the Chinese New Year. Happy New Year to all that celebrate it!
Personally, I like Chinese Astrology and 2009 is the year of the Ox. I´m Aries and Ox but I don´t know much about it´s meaning. Is this my lucky year?
I´ve read some blogs that had interesting predictions for the year of the Ox. I also think the Ox descriptions I read match most aspects of my personality. I belive more in descriptions than in predictions ("guessing the future is forbidden") but as a curious being, I like reading what they say about my sign.
I made a few searches about this topic but didn´t find much. For Occident Astrology I use the Website Astro.com but for Chinese I don´t know many references. I do have a book about it but only has descriptions of the main elements and signs.
Do you know any good Website where I can read more about the Ox?
I would appreciate any tips as I´m new to Chinese Astrology.

What Would You Celebrate?
My daughter´s birthday is arriving. She was born in February 7, and she´s turning nine. To celebrate this ocasion, we´re going to make a birthday party in our flat. She wants to invite some of her collegues, neighbours and cousins and I´m sure they´ll have fun toguether.
As most girls of her age, my daughter is a huge Disney fan. She likes the classic characters and all Disney princesses. Last weekend, we found some fun Disney birthday invitations with matching envelopes and all. Nedless to say that we visited Orlando Disney World website too. We found that this year, they have a special event called "What Would You Celebrate".
Easy question, I would celebrate my daughter´s birthday. if I could, I would buy some Discount Disney World Tickets online, fly to US and spend a whole week in Orlando with my family.
My daughter´s Godmother, which is also her aunt and my sister-in-law, lives in US. Last year, she sent us some amazing pictures of her and my nephews at Walt Disney World. I imagine that it´s like a small city with many fun things to see and do.
While looking for the invitations, we browsed the offcial Disney website too. The place is really big. There are so many attractions and shows to visit, such as Magic Kingdom, Disney's Hollywood Studios or Animal Kingdom, that only one weekend in Disney World wouldn´t be enough to see so many things. For nature lovers like we are, they also have Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. This big campground features cabins that are just like hotel rooms. Disney World must be an amazing place. A trip there would be a perfect birthday present for a girl that loves fantasy and the fairy tales´ world, don´t you agree?

In the past decade, the video games industry has grown exponentially. I read some statistics of 2008 that confirm the growth in the sales of most video game products. It looks like I can´t escape from this growing wave because I have a eight years old daughter that simply loves video games.

As EC users know, this is a common practice among some bloggers. Others reward advertisers or top commentors but there´s also some who don´t do anything.
I´ve been doing a "Thank You Entrecarders" post for quite some time and I also reward top droppers with a one month sidebar (125X125) ad that includes a dofollow link.
I´ve been in EC since last July and, although returning drops can be time consuming, I enjoy it very much. Dropping can become addictive and sometimes overwhelming but without it I wouldn´t have found great blogs that I enjoy reading and became follower.

MMORPG, or MMO are a type of computer games in which many users can interact in a virtual world. The player adopts a fictional character and controls it´s actions in the game. The main difference from common video games is the virtual world exists even when characters aren´t playing.
The MMO world is also a business, referred to as RMT or Real Money Trade. In this business, players can exchange the game currency for real money. Some of the most popular MMO are World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy, Age of Conan, EverQuest Lineage 22, and Pirates of the Burning Sea. This games use gold, or Vanguard Gold as it's currency, which can be traded online in e-commerce websites that sell virtual currency.

Blogger Status: If you Can´t Beat Them, Join Them
Hi everyone.
This blogger status brief post is just a bit of rambling, but that´s how I feel today.
After ten days without a good opportunity, all I can say is my post´s tittle: If you can´t beat them, then join them. An old saying we use in Portugal too.
I recently wrote a few posts about the changes in paid reviews world, that´s what today´s rant is all about. If you´re in the same boat, you´ll understand what I mean.
I realized, I rather earn a bit everyday than spend weeks without a decent offer. I just paid my school taxes for this semester but I need to start thinking about the next (and final, I hope) payment.
Lately, due to a flu and loads of work, I´ve been more tired than usual. At 1.00 am I´m already sleepy and can´t find enough time to finish all chores, specially returning drops. Another thing is I´m late posting awards, this boders me but I only have 24 hours a day, two hands and a handful of blogs :)
Some days I start dropping early, but lately, if I leave this task for my "night shift" I have a hard time finishing it. Well, I´m off to do my chores now. It´s Friday, tomorow I can rest a bit more, the morning is all mine :)

To many bloggers, networking became a must. People use network websites to connect with others they already know but also to make new connections.

Today´s post is about Netfreesource, a Blog where I post about free resources available online.
In this blog, I review websites that I find useful or somehow interesting. Most websites I recommend are found trough search engines. To keep it up, I have to research on a weekly basis and then filter results. I visit every website and, when possible, before posting I try the services they offer.
When I started Netfreesource, my first concern was content but when Night Clicks lost rank I had to reformulate my whole blogging plan.
I knew from the start it wouldn´t be easy to monetize Netfreesource because it has a specific focus on free resources but I didn´t care much about earning, the same as my food blog or My Countryhome.
In October, I submitted Netfreesource to different advertising companies and was accepted by a few, except PPP. I always knew I could earn more if I had my own domain but I didn´t want to start another personal blog for that purpose. Now that Night Clicks kept it´s rank there are less opportunities to do. If I want to maintain my current online income, I have to find another plan.
I´m thinking about reformulating Netfreesource. For example, I could give it a wider focus, include more personal content and change the design. Care to share your thoughts?

Today´s MM is a singer I like since my teens. I was introduced to his previous band, "Bauhaus", by a dear friend of mine that is no long among us. Each time I hear Peter Murphy´s songs I always remember the good times we spent toguether.

Paid Reviews World: More Competition and Economy Downturn Effect
Hi.
Today´s post is about a few changes that I noticed in the paid reviews´ world.
As you know, I earn some extra money blogging mainly trough advertising, reviews and content. I´ve been doing reviews for nine months and, along the way, I have blogged about my experiences with different companies.
As I previously pointed out, there are some disadvantages in doing this type of blog advertising. I noticed a few: affects content, loss of readers, PR penalized, blog desindexed from SE and not accepted in some blog directories. The positive side is the possibility to earn dollars, more or less, depending on the blog.
In my case, I´m happy with what I was able to earn with my simple blogspot blog, although I know I could earn more if I had my own domain, one change I always delayed.
Although I improved my ranks, in November I noticed there was more competition and less opportunities, comparing to previous months. It looks like the economic downturn had an affect on the number of opportunities available too. The same happened in December and is happening now.
If you´ve been doing this type of advertising, and you recently visited some of this websites you probably noticed the same I did, offers of fifty cents and one buck. When I first saw this I thought: What the h...my eyes aren´t seeing well. But no, it´s true.
I read somewhere that this business will probably end, some day. One thing is sure, the crisis effects are already visible. For now, I´m not lowering my prices and accepting this tiny offers, specially because my currency is Euros. Let´s see for how long this continues.
Well, that´s enough rant for now. I´m off to update my other blogs.

Blogger Status: Doing Blogging Chores
Hi.
For the second night in a row, I´ve been researching and reading. I got a bit distracted and didn´t finish my normal EC round.
I stumbled across a blog about saving money and living on a budget (trough another EC blog) and I got so curious that I couldn´t stop reading it. Like what happens when I´m reading an interesting book. I think I read most posts and the blog has over one year of regular updates. I will blog about this topic next time I update My Countryhome.
Besides reading, I spent some time doing other blogging chores such as analyzing stats, researching tools and I also tried some SEO tools and blogger plugins I never used before.
While researching for free blogging resources, I came across more websites that offer free skins for blogger, SEO articles, HTML Tutorials, free software and other educational resources. So, this are all good topics for future posts.
I also received more blog awards and tags, gotta work on them too.

A Good Monday!
Men´ Rainwear Shop
In my country we´re having very low temperatures and rain, everyone needs to wear extra protection. To protect ourselves from cold it´s preferable to wear several clothes´ layers.
This winter, my hubby needs a new raincoat. He has a leather jacket that he likes very much but it´s useless to protect him from rain. He likes that jacket´s model and wears it all the time but he needs another alternative. First, I thought about offering him one raincoat as a Christmas gift but then I decided to wait for January because it´s when the worst weather starts and shop promotions too.
I was browsing online clothes catalogs when I came across Sanyo Rainwear, a japonese company that, in 1986, was established in the United States.
Sanyo rainwear is made of Micro Polyester, Nylon, or Polyurethane, the best materials for water-repellant outerwear. Sanyo Rainwear also has men's raincoats with water proof lining and Breath Thermo technology. This store caught my attention because they have the same model I was looking for my hubby. They call this model, in the picture above, the Queensland shirt jacket by Sanyo Shokai.
This shirt jacket is made of Micro Pique Polyester and has Breath Thermo liner to keep the inside dry and warm. It also has zip out pockets to protect belongings. Queensland is a casual jacket but it can give him a stylish look in any occasion.
Blogger Status:Tired and Freezing
Hi everyone.
Lately, I´ve been working so much that now I feel tired, I really need some rest. Maybe it´s blogging burnout. As you know I blog at night, very late. Sometimes I think I should have called Night Clicks "The After Midnight Blog" :)
Yesterday, I only managed to update one of my blogs and, although I dropped until dropping, I didn´t finish my EC round. Sorry droppers but some days I just can´t return all drops.
Today, I´m sleepy again. I feel like going to bed early which isn´t very normal. Maybe I caught a bug again, I already started caughing and my throat is strange. I´m divided, I want to go to bed but I´d like to update my other blogs too. I think this weekend I need take one day off.
The weather doesn´t help much either, I´m freezing and I hate cold. I´ve been shaking all day, even at home. A North Pole front is hiting Europe and Portugal has been affected too. It´s snowing in north regions. I just hope it goes away soon.

*No. I already played music but never sang.

*Me, blond? Nahhh, only other colors.

*Never, and I intend to keep it that way :)
5. Have you ever received a present that you really hated?
*Yes, in my wedding. A black metal basket. Only recently I had the courage to
throw it away.
6. Have you ever walked into a lamp post?
*Yes, several times, but never got seriously wounded.
7. Have you ever cooked a meal by yourself for more than 15 people?
*Yes. In a New Year´s party. I was the best cook around so got recruited by my friends. I was lucky, I only had to cook different types of seafoods, very easy.
As usual, the worst part was cleaning everything afterwards.
8. Have you ever fallen or stumbled in front of others?
*Yes, on several ocasions. One time, I skiped breakfast and when I got hungry I rushed to a pastry. When I was entering the shop I fell right in front of everyone because I didn´t see one step...I was so hungry that I only saw the cakes, lol.
9. Have you ever done volunteer work?
*Yes, several times. Recently, in University, I helped organizing a coference and one other event.

Magi´s Day: Portuguese Traditions
In Portugal, Christmas holidays end today.
On 6th January, we celebrate the Magi´ day. Traditionally, we only remove Christmas decoration after this day.
Another old Portuguese tradition is singing "As Janeiras". Janeiras are an old tradition that has been kept, specially in small villages. A group of adults plays and sings traditional music, door by door, wishing a good new year to others. Then, the owner of the house invites them to eat and drink.
This week, my daughter´s homework was to look for Janeiras lyrics. She didn´t know what it was so I took some time to show her how it works. I found several videos of "As Janeiras" in Youtube, so if you´re curious just make a search there and take a glance at our traditions.

Currently, E-Referrer is working on some new features to improve the program and they already launched eReferrer 2.0 Beta site. This service is totally free. It can be a good help to manage link exchanges and can create new reciprocal link opportunities.
I´ve seen this tool in use on other websites but I didn´t try it in my blogs yet. I think I will try it out. With this tool I will give some links out but I´ll know exactly who is linking to me and where visitors come from.

I really wouldn´t mind receiving an Eco-Drive watch, it would be a perfect Valentine's gift. My birthday isn´t far either, it could be a two in one present but I have to find a way to let him know.
Music Monday X : Heróis Del Silencio
Hi.
For today´s MM, I selected a group I started listening in the early 90s and became their fan.
The name of this group is "Heróis del Silêncio" (Silence Heroes) and they´re Spanish. They´re the only Spanish rock group I hear and I enjoy both their lyrics and music. I know many of you don´t understand Spanish or Portuguese. I like taking part in MM to share the music I really like to hear, no matter what language.
Herois del Silencio and their singer, Enrique Bunbury, were already nominées for Latino Grammy Awards in "Best Rock Album" cathegory. This song, "Maldito Duende", is one of my favorites from this group and this video is from their Tour 2007 DVD:

Meeting People Online
While visiting other blogs, I came across several stories of people who meet online and start relationships. There are some bloggers that meet others and extend their friendship offline.
Last summer, I experienced this for the first time. I meet a blogger online, we exchanged links and comments for some time and then we meet offline. We meet for a coffee and spent some hours talking about our life, both online and offline. We said goodbye with the promise that one day we´ll meet again. This person lives in another country but visits mine for holidays. We still exchange comments and I think our friendship was enriched by the experience of our meeting.
When I first started blogging I never thought this could happen to me but it did. My experience was on a friendship level but there´s people who extend it further. Like me, you probably read stories of people who meet online and then get married. This stories make me curious about how this relations develop.
Probably, people meet in services such as 100% free dating or trough other social networks and then take a further step and extend that relation offline. Then, they meet again and their relationship develops from there. So, meeting online is just a starting point but it´s a totally different way of starting new relationships and a reality of our days. Technology is having a great impact on the way we relate and communicate with others and I wonder if it´s leading us to better quality relations or not.

Back To School
Our school vacations ended. This Monday is "back to school" time. We´ve been so lazy this past days.
Without fixed timetables we wake up, have meals and go to bed later than usual. It´s holidays after all and it feels really good.
I´ve been a worst student than my daughter because she did all her homeworks and I didn´t. In January, I´ll have to work harder to make it up.
On top of my shillyshally, my hubby had his company´s Christmas dinner on the same day I had an appointment with my teacher. I had to stay home with my daughter and missed the appointment. What´s worst is I didn´t warned my teacher in advance or contacted her after. I have to mail her first thing in the morning.
Well, it´s time to organize our backpacks and tomorrow off we go.

I Need To Do Some Renovations
This hollidays, I controlled very well my spending spree.
Although we´re trying to save money, the new year always brings me a desire for renovation. It´s the time of the year when I make plans about the things I´d like to achieve and reflect about the things I´d like to renovate in our space to refresh it. When we moved to this flat we had many expenses, we bouht some very low quality items, such as our mattress, a big mistake.
Nine years have passed and I realized I should have invested more on our sleep, instead of buying furniture for my flat´s entrance hall. I bought the cheapest mattress I found on the store and it was a bad decision that has been affecting our sleep quality for the past years. Each time I think about buying a new mattress, which is a big expense, something else comes up. Last time was our washing machine, it had no repair and we had to buy a new one.
I have to solve this problem soon, or else I will have bug problems. I was watching a TV show about this topic and I was in shock to find that, by now, my mattress must have some. There´s an online bed bug pest control guide that provides information on how to deal with this problem but my resolution maybe buying a new mattress. I don´t like bugs, I don´t know how to deal with them, specially those I cannot see.

I was so surprised with the latest PR updates that I started writing this post but saved it to be sure that in the meanwhile things wouldn´t change :)
Ranks is a topic of interest for most bloggers that somehow profit from them, either by monetizing their blogs trough advertising or paid posts.
When I wrote my blogging goals post I was quite sure that Night Clicks would be penalized but, for my luck, it wasn´t. Like me, other bloggers kept their PRs or gained some. I know there were recent changes but now I´m a bit confused.
Anyway, I´m writing this post to share my results:
