Blogger Status: Adapting to New Schedules
Hello everyone.
Hope you are all having a good week. Mine has been quite busy but mostly offline. Although in the past week I haven´t posted much here, I´ve been online almost every night. I´ve been working in the "backstage" for my blogs. Basically, I´ve been searching for new opportunities to expand my earnings and writing new posts.
My dear friends Metz and Mariuca invited me to participate in a couple memes and I´ve been thinking about them so much but these days my online free time doesn´t seem to be as much as I´d like it to be. You can blame my offline full time job and it´s crazy and deregulating schedules.
Last week, my job´s schedules changed and I´m still trying to adjust myself to this new situation. Doing shifts isn´t easy but with time I know I will adapt to my new reality. One of my new schedules is 14.00 pm to 22.00 pm. I don´t like this new schedule much because when I´m doing it I can´t have dinner with my daughter. Dinner is my sacred family meal and not having it has been hard.
Well, the good part is my days off. Once my daughter is on school´s vacations, I try to spend these days off with her. Going to the swimming pool has been her favorite choice and when I´m out all day, my online chores are left in a second plan.
Well, I´ll be around for sure. If you don´t find daily posts on Night Clicks, don´t worry, I´m resting or out there having fun. Whenever I can, I also continue to make my usual EC rounds. I found a few new blogs trough the system that I´m enjoying.

Bogger Status: Day Off & Chatting Online
Hello everyone.
In the past days, I have been busy with my job but I also got a bit distracted chatting online. Yeap, chatting online :)
In sum, I was invited by a friend to join a website where we can chat. I´m not a huge fan of these type of websites but I was curious and decided to give it a try. I uploaded a couple pictures there and in a few days I already meet some virtual friends.
I was amazed by the amount of users this website has and even found people that live in the same city I do. I´m still trying it out, maybe later I can share more details of my experience with this particular website. Tonight, I´m doing drops and updating my blogs.

Comfort First
Today, I went to the shopping with my daughter and saw one exposition of a comfort item I really would like to have, a massage chair. I mention often that I like frugality and having a simple life but my concept of being frugal does not discard comfort and well-being. I can be frugal in many things but not in important areas such as health, education and security.
When I arrived home, I turned on my notebook to research more about Massage Chair Benefits and found that technology has helped much developing good quality chairs. Night Clicks - Not a "Do Follow Blog"
Night Clicks, my central office as I like to call it, is not a "Do Follow" blog in a long time. I still have the link and widget to one of this directories in my sidebar but I´m not a part of it anymore.
I made this decision due to SPAM issues. Like any other blogger, I like comments about my pots´s content, even when I blog about the weather, and not about Bingo, Panda bags or any other topics or links spammers use.
I give links to whoever I want whenever I want, period. I exchange links with other bloggers whenever I feel like. I even accept some blogger´s links in my comments but they won´t get any juice, I know enough html to control my outbond links:)
This blog is almost two years old and in this time I learned a lot by myself. I spend long hours at night learning online.
I´m the master of this place (besides big G) and I like to be in control of what happens here. This is my show and if anyone doesn´t like it I don´t mind, go spam somewhere else.

Car Repairs
Today, I have to take my car to the repair garage because it needs new breaks. I won´t pay anything because it´s a part of a one year guarantee I got when I bought this second hand car. I have the annual inspection scheduled for 27 th so I need to have everything in shape.
Next time I need new ties, I will buy recycled such as composite railroad ties type. I recently learned that this type of ties are made from recycled plastics and last much longer than regular ties. Once they are made of recycled materials and don't have the harmful chemicals used to make the wooden ties last longer, they are good for the environment. Plus, I found that I don´t need to worry about safety issues and I will save some Euros with this deal.
I just hope everything goes well in my annual inspection because, this month, I´m not budgeting extra car repairs.

More Twitter Buttons
I mentioned in a previous post that I was looking for Twitter buttons for my blogs. A fellow blogger, Dorothy, suggested custom made buttons but what I really wanted was free resources.
First, I came across Twitterbutton dot com website, which has nice buttons but yesterday I found another resource at: http://twittericon.com/
Both websites offer free buttons and they have so many models available that I can have a new button for my blogs every week :) This Twitter thing is hooking me, lol. Well, at least, I´m having fun sending Twits and discovering new followers every day. Once I adopted: "You follow me, I follow you", I login everyday to check if I have new followers. Maybe I can find new cool blogs trough the system.

EC Was Sold: Now What?
Yesterday, while making my usual EC round, I read in different blogs that EC was bought by Ziprunner Inc.
Many questions pumped up in my mind, such as:
~ Will EC system remain as it is?
~ Will they keep paid ads?
~ What about my cash out? Will I ever be paid?
And the list of questions could go on. For now, things remain the same in my account.
I haven´t found answers to my questions and I guess other users don´t know what will happen as well. The only thing we can do is wait to see.
I will keep visiting my fellow bloggers trough EC, unless there are major changes that I dislike.

Meet Nina: Our New Furfriend

I´m happy to introduce you our new fur friend, Nina. I already wrote about her in my other blog "My Countryhome" but I couldn´t resist posting a picture of Nina on Night Clicks too.
We found Nina, a young female cat with around 6 months, abandoned on the street. It broke our heart so we brought her home. She´s a really good girl and she adapted our flat and routines very well. She loves to be on my lap when I´m blogging and she´s a great company to me.
So, with her in our home we will sure have many new fur adventures.

Catching Up With Old Friends & Feelings
Hello everyone.
Today, I did an afternoon shift and now I´m home, had a great dinner with my daughter and now I´m ready for another blogging night :)
I just spend over an hour at the phone with an old friend from my hometown. My gosh, I miss my hometown so much!
I meet this friend when I was only five years old and I consider her my best friend ever. It´s great to catch up with her. So many memories...great times together!
I can live in the other side of the country forever but I will never let go this friendship. We never forget each other, we always speak on the phone, specially in birthdays, holidays and important dates.
I just invited her to spend a weekend here and she agreed. Soon we will meet again, and I´m happy she accepted my invitation. Now that I´m alone and free, I can amuse myself (but not to death, like in Roger Water´s song, lol) anytime I like without having to give explanations about it.
This freedom feeling is so good. Thanks to it seems like time has gone back, I feel ten years younger, lol. Five months have passed since I broke up with my ex and I feel like having fun, I´m more alive than ever! I recovered my freedom and it feels great. I can do what I want, anytime I want.
So, tonight I´m updating my blogs and tomorrow morning I can sleep because I will do a night shift. Plus, today I received some good news. I´ll have Saturday and Sunday off! The whole weekend just for me. It feels great. I´m thinking about going with my daughter to a great slide swimming pool we have here. I´m sure we will have lots of fun.

Beading Art Works
When I was a young girl, I was fascinated with beading. I used to buy colorful beads in little plastic bags to make bracelets and necklaces for me and my school friends. I used to save all the money I could and instead of buying ice creams or going to the movies, when I had enough money to buy a packet of beads, I would run to the beads' shop.
My favorite bracelets were made by Africans who came to my hometown to sell in the local annual market. I remember they had awesome beading projects for sale. Off course my bracelets were simple, nothing compared to these Africans true beading art works. I never had the chance to buy one of their necklaces or bracelets, I preferred spending my money in the merry-go-rounds. I was just a kid but the beading bug was already inside me.
Nowadays, beading is a worldwide hobby. You can find many websites only dedicated to this topic.

Motorbikes Weekend
Hi everyone.
Yesterday night, I went downtown for a walk with my daughter and noticed that Faro is already crowded with very cool motorbikes.
Something I never told you before is I used to ride a motorbike, but not anymore. I still have a Honda 750 in my garage that belonged to my father but I´d rather drive my Ford :)
So, my town is full of motorbikes because Faro´s motorbike club is organizing their 28th gathering and this annual event is considered to be the biggest motorbike Mecca in Europe.

I´m My Mother´s Driver
In Portugal, you can only get a car insurance if the car is registered in your name. Last February, when I broke up with my ex and lost my previous car I had to buy another one. Here we really need a car. Once I don´t have the divorce papers yet, I had to buy the car in my mother´s name.
My mother started driving when I was born, a long time ago. A few years ago, she had an accident and decided it was time to stop driving. Because of this, she didn´t renovated her driving license, it expired in 2002. Because she didn´t have a valid driving license, I had a hard time making a car insurance in her name. Fortunately, in Portugal, we can make an insurance in the car owner´s name only if someone else is the driver. This way, my problem was solved. I made an insurance in her name but I´m the driver.
It was important to share all these details with the insurance company to get a comprehensive car insurance policy. This way, if I have any accident we´re both protected.

I have a list of things to do but when my day off arrives, all I want to do is rest and spend some quality time with my daughter.
Portugal is a very bureaucratic country and without the necessary papers we can´t get things done. Although we already have computers installed in most of our government agencies things are to slow for my taste.
We´re having awesome summer days and the last thing I want is to spend a whole afternoon in a bureau just because I need a paper.
This month I have to pay my car´s annual city tax and make it´s inspection. I will take one whole day only to get this two things done but if I don´t make them till the end of July I can get fined by the police, well, in case they catch me, lol.
I also need to get some papers from the city hall and the finances bureau, two more lost days in there. Gosh! Why did the government installed computers everywhere if they don´t use them? If we could get these papers online, things would be much easier for all of us.

Hello everyone. Just came back from a night shift and tonight I´ll be updating my Portuguese blogs but before I go, I have an opinion to share.
If you checked PPP lately, you probably noticed the same I did. Lots of 1 buck opportunities requiring 200 words. Now, I can do affordable reviews in my blogs but one buck? No thank you, I pass it.
I happy with the money I already earned trough reviews but I´m not exchanging my time for so little. Maybe some bloggers don´t think like me, one buck here, another one there...
Not me, I´m not working for so little. I´d rather be reading interesting stuff or visiting my EC fellows. Is this the crisis effect, or what?

Summer Camps
Both me and my daughter love water. My daughter is the type of kid that goes to the beach or swimming pool and never gets out of the water since the moment we arrive there. Now that summer vacations are here, she wants to go to the beach everyday but because I´m working in shifts that isn´t possible. I try to go with her to the swimming pool, at least, once a week and every Sunday she goes to the beach with my ex but for her that isn´t enough.
One thing she would love but never went to are Summer Camps. She´s old enough to spend some days in a summer camp but I don´t know many here. When summer began, I saw a poster of a summer camp in Tavira. This was a summer camp only dedicated to water sports but it was in a distant town and a bit expensive for my pocket.
If there was a summer camp here in Faro, I would send her there for a few days. I´m sure she would have a fun time and the opportunity to socialize with new friends. When I was her age, I used to go to summer camps too. I remember having so much fun there, I can say those were the best summers of my childhood.

This new provider is very similar to Direct TV Service. For those readers who never heard about this company, I´ll briefly explain what it is. DirecTV is a direct broadcast satellite service, launched in 1994, which is less expensive than cable. This provider transmits digital satellite television in the United States, the Caribbean, and parts of Latin America. Besides being less expensive than cable, Direct TV System has several advantages, for example, it doesn´t fail when lines are down, provides digital quality and high definition TV.
A major difference between US and Portuguese services is Direct TV has its own network which is available only to it´s subscribers in the United States. I´ve read in some websites that this company is also the leader in sports programming.
The new Portuguese provider is now gaining more subscribers because they´re offering free installation and equipment. I´ve been seriously thinking about subscribing a package that includes TV, phone and unlimited Internet connection but I can only do it after I finish my actual contract.

Blogger Status: Day Off & Blogging Night
Today, Saturday, I had this week´s second day off. One day off is not enough to rest, period. I prefer when I have two days in a row but, in my current job, that is something we don´t get much. Most weeks, I only have one day off at the time.
I think my chief could do better schedules for all of us. My section has 25 workers and, although not all do night shifts, current schedules could be improved. Well, I think I could organize them better. Most of my coworkers think like me. We prefer working more hours in one day just to have two days off in a row. Well, there´s not much I can do about it. It´s take it or leave it.
My daughter went to a cousin´s birthday party and she´s going to spend this weekend with my ex. So, I´m home alone. I like being alone but today, for the first time in the past five months, I felt a bit lonely.
To put this feeling away, I spent a good part of the day doing house-chores and preparing my bathroom to be painted. I also finished packing my ex´s tools in boxes and cleaned my balcony. Things were getting pretty messy there.
After painting my bathroom, I´m going to start asking quotes for my balcony´s new floor project. This project will be quite expensive so I´d better start saving for it but without asking quotes I will never know how much money I will need.
This afternoon, I also did a big EC round and cooked dinner.
Right now, I should be sleeping because this Sunday I´m doing a morning shift but I don´t care. I´m blogging the night away, at least, until 3.00 am :) Once I´m doing another morning shift next Monday, I´ll sleep better tomorow.

I´m Done With IE 8
As I mentioned in a recent post, I rebooted my Toshiba notebook and had to reinstall Windows XP and other software.
I installed IE 8 but I kept having problems when I wanted to visit some friend´s blogs. I frequently got this message: "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage".
This was so annoying!
This error message kept showing when I wanted to visit some of my favorite fellow bloggers such as Mariuca and Empty Streets. Plus, it also happened with other websites when I was doing EC drops.
Before my notebook crashed, I used to have both IE7 and Firefox but having two browsers working at the same time seemed to cause some sort of conflict. When I used both, my notebook accelerated and got too hot.
So, I´m done with IE. Today I uninstalled IE and from now on I´ll only be using Firefox. With Firefox, I browse more quickly and, untill now, I didn´t have any problems. I´m glad they invented this awsome browser :)

Today I had a day off. Can you guess what I did?
No, I didn´t go shopping or cleaned the house, lol. I slept all morning! Well deserved rest, after tiring shifts and blogging nights :)
Yesterday, I took some time to check paint´s prices because I really want to fix my bathroom. It´s decided, my next home project will be painting the bathroom myself and this time I won´t use white paint, I want a colored bathroom.
Tomorow, I´ll be doing another night shift so during the day I won´t have much time to be online. When I come back, after midnight, I´ll do another blogging night for sure.

Blogger Stuff: Mummy is Proud
Today, I´m very happy and proud of my daughter. I went to her school to receive this year´s grades and got out of there with a big smile stamped on my face.
My daughter passed to the 4th grade of elementary school with very good grades. She had two "A", one "B" and in the final multitest she had an "A". 100% in Math!
What else could I ask?
Well, to be honest, I was expecting good results because I help her doing homeworks and I know she´s a hard working student. As we say here "soon of fish knows how to swim" and her mom always had very good grades :)
To celebrate, we went out for lunch. We had a very good meal in a downtown Italian restaurant. We had pizza with mixed salad. I also promissed to buy her one thing that she´s been asking for ages, a Nitendo.
She´s a great girl and deserves all the best in this world. Although I´m trying to save money, I can´t deny her all material pleasures. When I was her age, I received my first computer, a 48K, lol. Good old times of noisy games in tapes and Load "" :)
Now it´s time to enjoy holidays and, although I´m working, I´ll try my best to make her happy and engage in pleasant summer activities with her.

Helping Animals
If you read my other blogs you know I love animals, specially cats and dogs, and I usually feed some that live in my street.
If we all could do something to help abandoned animals, there wouldn´t be so many living on the streets. In my country there are many street cats and dogs. In the area I live there are only a couple shelters but there´s a very interesting project dedicated to sea animals.
I would be happy if I we had an organization such as the American Animal Care Center (AACC). This organization, founded in 1986 by Dr. Dharam P. Salwan, is a small animal practice in Fremont which provides free veterinary services to injured pets found in the streets. With the help of the Wildlife Fund, the center also assists in treating, rehabilitating, and adopting these pets.
The AACC was already distinguished with some awards such as "Small Business of the Year", "Excellence in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery",
"Top Vets for Pets” in the Bay Area, and the "Best Animal Hospital in Fremont in 2008". If you follow this link, you can read about American Animal Care Center in news.

My Notebook is Fixed
Hello everyone,
I´m back from a night shift and, although I´m tired, I couldn´t end my night without blogging a bit :)
I have good news, I finally fixed me notebook. It was rebooted and now I think it´s working fine. I still think that it gets too warm underneath when it´s on for some hours but with the hot temperatures we´re having here I guess it´s normal. Maybe I need a notebook support. Next time I go to the tech shop I gotta check their prices. A notebook support is good to help the machine in "breathing better" and avoids high temperatures underneath it.
I´m happy because I managed to fix my Toshiba without high repairing costs and I returned my ex his notebook too.
With this change, I lost some pictures, documments and software I had installed in his notebook because I didn´t have enough CDs to copy everything. Nevermind, I copied the most important stuff I had saved in his notebook and all the rest I can get from the Internet, except the pictures. Now I have some tasks to do.
I already installed the antivirus software to safely browse the net and downloaded all the Windows updates available. This is the first step to my notebook´s good health.
I downloaded Internet Explorer 8 but when I browse some websites that I usually visit, I get a safety warning notice that didn´t show up when I was using IE 7. Weird and not nice because I have to close this notice´s window all the time. I think I´m going to install IE 7 back.
I still need to download Firefox to do EC drops and some software I always use such as Wordweb (to check my english spelling) & a software for pictures. I also have to restart my favorites´ list, right now it´s empty.

I´m back from a night shift and, although I´m tired, I couldn´t end my night without blogging a bit :)
I have good news, I finally fixed me notebook. It was rebooted and now I think it´s working fine. I still think that it gets too warm underneath when it´s on for some hours but with the hot temperatures we´re having here I guess it´s normal. Maybe I need a notebook support. Next time I go to the tech shop I gotta check their prices. A notebook support is good to help the machine in "breathing better" and avoids high temperatures underneath it.
I´m happy because I managed to fix my Toshiba without high repairing costs and I returned my ex his notebook too.
With this change, I lost some pictures, documments and software I had installed in his notebook because I didn´t have enough CDs to copy everything. Nevermind, I copied the most important stuff I had saved in his notebook and all the rest I can get from the Internet, except the pictures. Now I have some tasks to do.
I already installed the antivirus software to safely browse the net and downloaded all the Windows updates available. This is the first step to my notebook´s good health.
I downloaded Internet Explorer 8 but when I browse some websites that I usually visit, I get a safety warning notice that didn´t show up when I was using IE 7. Weird and not nice because I have to close this notice´s window all the time. I think I´m going to install IE 7 back.
I still need to download Firefox to do EC drops and some software I always use such as Wordweb (to check my english spelling) & a software for pictures. I also have to restart my favorites´ list, right now it´s empty.
Well, after this little things, I´m ready to do my usual blogging nights.

Home Building Services
As some of you know, the biggest and most expensive dream of my life is living in a countryhome. I´d like to live in the countryside but in a region not much isolated. If I had the money to make my dream come true, I would build a countryhome from scratch.
My wish is to build a countryhome designed by me according to my needs. If I could make it my way, I could chose the location of the house, size of the bedrooms, number of windows, materials, colors and everything else. That´s my real dream and I quite have it all figured out.
A nice fireplace for winter, a barbecue in a small but peaceful garden for summer, no neighbors to wake me up in weekends, some pets, and I would be the happiest girl on earth.
I wouldn´t build the house myself, off course, I would contract a good home builder. Oh, it´s good to dream. I belive that sometimes dreams can come true.

Music Monday XXXIV
Hello everyone.
This weekend passed really quick, didn´t it?
I had a day off and worked half Sunday but, as usual, didn´t have enough time to do everything I wanted. Well, at least I had enough rest.
For this week´s Music Monday, I picked Skin. I really enjoy Skin & Skunk Anansie. When they first appeared, they were one of my "favorite bands of the moment". Although I didn´t buy any CD from them, I still like them alot. I spent more than one hour deciding which music to chose for MM and found some songs I never heard before. It was difficult to pick just one song... this week I chose a Skin´s music called "Lost".

Recently, I lost some weight and now I have to rethink my wardrobe. Most shorts I have are too large for me now and I´m thinking about spending some money on new ones. It wasn´t difficult losing a few kilos without any special diet. No, I didn´t take any weight loss pills, I just stopped eating fat food, some sweets and made more exercise. I also stopped using the pill and I think it had an influence in my weight loss.
Although I lost some kilos, I still have unwanted fat in my abdomen area. It´s not easy to change this stubborn area of fat but with a liposuction I could correct the problem.

I´d like to wish a happy 4th July to all my fellow bloggers that celebrate it :)
This date is special to me too, it´s my mother´s birthday.
Although our relation is strange, and she´s my antikarma, I love her. There´s only one mother in this life and F. is mine :)
My mother lives 300 Km away from me. Recently, she was sick and spent some weeks here with us. When she started feeling better, she returned home. I wasn´t able to convince her to stay. She missed her friends and decided to return to my hometown. Can´t blame her, I love my hometown too.
Today, I phoned my mother to wish her a happy birthday. As usual she was in a bad mood, I think she´s got a sort of "Distimia", poor dear. Her life is a major lesson to me and no thanks but I don´t want to be like her when I grow up, lol.
Anyway, happy birthday mom. I wish you all the best!
I´m doing another blogging night, I won´t have enough sleep again. Tomorow, I´ll do a morning shift but I don´t care. Today, I had enough sleep and tomorow after work I can rest too. My daughter is going to the beach with my ex and I can make a little nap :)

Blogger Status: A Day Off & Some Frustrations
Hello everyone.
After two night shifts in a row, I´m home for a day off which will be tomorow. Sunday, I will work 4 hours in the morning and then another busy week will start again.
Today, at work, I had a small accident. I slipped in the stairs and fell down. I was lucky because I feel on my back and didn´t get very injured. My back is hurting a bit and I bruised my arm. I think I will be Ok after some rest.
Yesterday it wasn´t a good day either, I had a "small" conflit with one of my co-workers. She started screaming at me with no reason and I got so furious that I had to make a "time out", otherwise I think I would start screaming at her too. I hate when people scream at me out of the blue and unfairly.
After 3 months in this job, it´s the first time I had a conflict. The co-worker that yelled at me is from Russia, she´s younger than me and has a bad attitude towards work and older collegues. I don´t like rude co-workers, specially when they disrespect others.
Today, I had to let my chief know what happened. She would know it anyway, so I prefered to let her know what happened myself. I´m sure this story won´t end here but I´d rather lose the job than letting a co-worker step on me. Who does she think she is?
Apart from this "Friday Frustrations", I have other things to worry and won´t let this beat me down. Right now, I have so much stuff I want to do online. I want to update my Portuguese blogs, continue writing posts for my new domain blog and visit fellow bloggers. I´ll be online a good part of the night trying to do all I want.
I promissed my daughter we would go swimming tomorow. I´m thinking about going to Loulé´s public swimming pool, it´s bigger and not that expensive.

Remodeling To Rent
Now that I have my financial situation more organized, I´m saving money to make some long needed home improvements.
I have been brainstorming ways to reach my goal of living in a countryhome and one idea that makes sense is to rent the flat where I´m currently living.
To put this idea in practice, I have to make some remodeling, specially in the bathroom and balconies. One urgent thing is to replace the back balcony´s tiles and get it painted. I will need, at least, a thousand Euros to put this project in practice.
The flat has two bathrooms but the smaller one is never used. The big bathroom needs urgent repairs, my priority is to paint it and install a fixed bath protection so the water won´t come out. Shower curtains look nice but don´t avoid the water that comes out of the bathing tub.
At last, I will also need to replace the kitchen floor´s tiles. Last year, I had problems in the main pipes and there was a flood in the kitchen. As a result, the floor´s tiles are damaged.
This is not a small remodeling project, I will sure need to find a good professional and affordable material´s prices.
