About Saving and Spending

Now that I´m living only with my daughter I must only rely on my job´s income. The cost of living in Portugal is high and I´m always trying to save money in every purchase I make. Plus, I recently bought a second hand car and, as I usually joke, with this decision now it´s three of us to support.
In the past years, I avoided credit but recently I subscribed a credit card. After purchasing three hundred and fifty euros with this card the credit card company will offer me a good brand coffee machine that costs around two hundred euros. Once I will pay for all my shopping when I receive my monthly paycheck, they won´t charge me any interests. I´m a coffee lover and I currently don´t have any machine, the last one I had stopped working after five years of intensive use. I think this will be a great deal for me.
I think I´m fortunate because, until now, I never had to use quick cash loan services. I would use this type of services under some circumstances. For example, if I didn´t have any savings and a sudden problem happened in my life such as an accident, an unpredictable expense or even a disease.
If I start spending more than I earn and don´t save any money or if I lose my job, I can easily be in trouble. That´s why saving money is an important topic to me. As a single mother I have to think about the feature because my daughter´s expenses are growing each year.

About My Job: Applied For Telephone Operator

Soon, I will complete six months on my current job. With my shift´s schedules, I´m sure Winter will be the hardest part of it.
When I wake up at six in the morning to start my shift at eight o´clock it´s still night and when I finish at midnight it´s too late to do anything but blogging a bit or going straight to bed. The schedules aren´t so bad. The disadvantage of my current job is the load of work. I really work hard...the job is too fiscally demanding.
In July, a new vacancy opened for internal assistants like me. They need one person for telephone operator to replace a colleague which will retire soon. I didn´t hesitated a bit and applied for this job. Hospital´s telephone operators also do shifts, including nights, but they don´t work as much as I do and even earn more.
The hospital´s selection department in charge sent me a letter asking my professional curriculum. I sent it right away. I have a bit of experience in this field and I when I worked at the post office I also had to deal with public.
I really would like to be selected for this job and, once there´s only one vacancy, I´m crossing my fingers to be the chosen one.
Wish me luck, I will sure need it :)

Calling Relatives Abroad

One way to save money on phone bills and international calls is buying prepaid phone cards. There are many companies that provide calling cards and the competition on this market is an advantage to all users. When competition is high, prices get lower.
If you search online for phone cards, you can check that they have different features. Some cards include recharge, auto recharge, pin-less dialing and speed dialing. There are international prepaid calling cards and international prepaid phone cards with no connections fees, no service fees and no maintenance fees which are ideal for users like me. All you need to do is choose the features that best suit you. I like to use prepaid Phone Cards because I can control the exact amount of money I want to spend on my international calls. With family abroad I prefer using this type of cards than calling from my home phone.
Last Christmas, when I used my home phone to call relatives in France, I had such a surprise in my phone bill that I decided to go back to my previous strategy: Buying Prepaid Phone Cards to call them and when the money in them finishes, so does the conversation. This year, I´ll buy another phone card to call my relatives abroad again. No more surprise phone bills for me, thank you :)

Music Monday Nr. 44

Hello folks,
Hope you all had a good weekend. Mine was good, between a working Saturday and a Sunday off with some domestic duties, I had a good time going out.
For this week´s Music Monday, I picked the group "Mortal Love" and their song "Adoration".
There aren´t many live videos of this group available on Youtube and although many of their lyrics are a bit depressive I enjoy their music.
Happy Monday everyone!

Adoration Lyrics:

Pretend you're in my heart
Pretend we'll never part
Everything beautiful dies

With you inside of me
With you I'll never be
Anything else than you

Just to feel the taste of love
Intertwine with your inner thoughts
Feel your loving touch
I know you're too far gone

And when I lay me down to sleep
The stars above me bright and far away... like you

I know my love is gone
I know I don't belong
Everything beautiful dies

Just to feel the taste of love
Intertwine with your inner thoughts
Feel your loving touch
I know you're too far gone

And when I lay me down to sleep
The stars above me bright and far away... like you

Pretend you're in my heart
Pretend we'll never part
Everything beautiful dies

And when I lay me down to sleep
The stars above me bright and far away... like you

About Free Antivirus: Thanks for Sharing!

A few days ago, I wrote a post asking opinions about free antivirus.
I´d like to thank all my fellow bloggers who shared their experiences with me.
If any of you needs a free antivirus software, here´s what they recommended me:

~ Joy-Anne uses AVG, she said "it hasn't failed me yet".

~ Rebecca uses a free version of Grisoft AVG and also Comodo Forewall and Antivirus combination.

~ Monica uses Avast.

~ Shinade also mentioned AVG but she prefers Norton.

~ Mytheory recommended NOD32, he said "it's free and also a light-weight antivirus, the performance has score 3.5 out of 5"

Before reading all comments I had to find a solution. I couldn´t afford to risk my dearest notebook health. So, while I still had the antivirus running I looked for information on Entrecard blogs.
I visited Computer Aid Blog, the author recommends a combination of tools, for example:

~ The free version of Avira AntiVir and an antispyware solution such as Windows Defender.

You can read the whole post and all recommendations here: Computer Aid - Best Antivirus & Antispyware.

Once again, thank you all for sharing your experiences with me!
Sharing is the true spirit of blogging.
See you soon :)

Sunday Off & Elections Day

Hello everyone, hope you´re all having a good weekend.
Today is my day off and I´ve been doing my usual cleaning chores. I had a busy week and now there´s so much to do in my flat...
I also did 300 drops! As you know, I love blog-hopping and visiting my EC fellows but, lately, my full time job has taken most of my free time.

Today is an important day for all Portuguese, it´s elections day. We´re choosing a new prime minister today and although I don´t blog much about politics I know how important elections are for my fellow Portuguese. Our next four years of politics will depend on today´s election.
Later tonight I´d like to do one of my blogging nights. I´ve got so many things I´d like to do in all of my blogs...
See you later :)

Useful Services: Lawyers

There are many occasions when we need an attorney, it may be because of a car accident, a work accident, medical malpractice, etc. In my case, I recently had to hire an attorney to advise me about my rights because of my divorce. Our daughter and our plot were my main worries and because I have a job, I didn´t want any alimony. I needed advise because I didn´t know much about child support, alimony and all issues involved in a divorce. Plus, I needed legal information on what to do with the common goods we had. I had the luck to find a very professional lawyer that guided me and gave me advice about everything I needed to know. He marked a few appoitments with me, talked all things trough and didn´t charge me much.
If you live in New Jersey and you´re looking for an attorney, you can check Feldman Shepherd services. This company provides a team of lawyers and support staff that will help you in every issue of your case. Feldman´s services include New Jersey burn attorneys and other specialties. In their website you can find detailed information about all services provided by this company. The website also provides specific law information and articles.

Wiki Website

In my country, when we want to get information about a phone number there are two options available. One is checking national yellow pages and the other is calling a telecom line that provides some information about national phone numbers. If the phone number you´re looking for is registered as non confidential, then you´re lucky, the operator will give you details about that particular phone number such as name of the owner and address. On the other hand, if the phone number is registered as confidential the operator won´t provide any information about it. This is how things work here.
In US, there are different companies that provide phone number information services. If, for any reason, you need information about a phone number you can check it online, using Caller Wiki Report, a service that doesn´t exist here.
Trough Callerwiki website you can learn if a number belongs to a telemarketing or other company. Users can read what others have written about that number too. There´s also a reverse phone lookup available to all users. Maybe in a few years a useful service like this will be developed here but for now we only have the two options of having information about a phone number mentioned above

I Need a New Anti Virus Software: Which is the Best Free Option?

I´ve been using a paid anti-virus software for some time but my subscription finishes today. I´m happy with the software I´ve been using because it has protected my notebook from many adware and other malicious attacks.
I really need protection for my machine because I do a lot of blog-hopping and visit new websites every day but once there´s free software available I think I should give it a try.
I already have internet connection and domain costs, I´d really like to cut expenses and I´m seriously thinking about doing this change.

The question is: Which is the best free anti-virus software available?
If you´re using free anti-virus software, would you please share your experience with me?

What Makes a Website Work

What makes a website work is a question I frequently ask myself.
My experience as a blogger allows me to draw a few conclusions about this topic.
A good web site development plan should consider a few different aspects such as design, content, traffic and search engine optimization.
Design is crucial, if a website doesn´t look good, visitors won´t feel attracted to come back. If a you want your website to look good but you don´t have enough skills to design it yourself, you should consider hiring web design services. There are plenty companies that offer affordable design solutions.
Content is king, we all heard this jargon before. I agree with it, I prefer visiting a website with good content and poor design and not the opposite. Juicy content makes visitors come back again and again and some of them may become your best readers. This leads us to the traffic topic. The more the better but you sure want quality over quantity. Traffic can be related to content. The better your content is the more regular visitors you´ll have.
Another good way to get traffic is trough search engines. SEO is a complex topic. You can learn it yourself or hire search engine optimization services. If you want your website to work you should not ignore SEO. I have a good example how SEO can work on my favor with my art blog. If it wasn´t for SEO I wouldn´t have as many daily visitors as I have.
So, a website can be successful when a combination of this aspects works well.

Blogging Chores

In the past two months, I´ve been so busy with my full time job and personal life that I almost neglected some of my blogs.
Now that I made the decision to return to my usual blogging chores, at full speed, I realized how much I have to do to catch up.
Running a few blogs and two domains isn´t a "piece of cake" but now that I entered this adventure, I don´t want to give up one of my favorite hobbies which is almost a part-time job.
Blogging is a very rewarding activity to me and I´m not talking about making money online. Other bloggers out there will probably understand what I mean. The truth is when I like one thing, I really like it... this is one of my obsessive traits :)
In the next days, I have to elaborate a "To Do" list so I can make time management plans. In fact, I have plans for all my blogs, ideas in my mind that I´d like to put in practice.
I will need some weeks to catch up but once Winter has arrived, I will spend more time at home and, hopefully, I will be able to stick to my "To Do" list.
I´ll share my list in a future post. See you soon :)

Baptism Gifts

My daughter has a baby cousin which is going to be baptized soon and she was invited for the ceremony. In my country there´s an old tradition for Baptism gifts. As a way to wish luck for the newborn baby, baptism ceremony guests should offer gold.
When my daughter was baptized she received many small gold gifts such as earrings and medals. I´d like to offer my daughter´s cousin something nice but I don´t think I´ll be able to offer gold.
I´ve been searching online for gifts ideas. I´ve checked baptism gifts now, an online store, and found an inexpensive and adorable praying girl wall cross that would be the perfect gift for her. If you´re looking for religious gifts, check out this store. This week only, they have a 10% to 25% reduction on all items.

Adsense Earnings

Hi everyone,
Yesterday, when I checked my Adsense account I noticed that I reached another payment limit, it´s case to say iupi!
I received my previous payment last August and I hope to get this one next November. I think I´m very lucky because I can blog in my own language about my favorite hobby and have Adsense earnings at the same time. I thank all this to G. because trough their search engine I get enough daily visits that click on ads.
For the second year in a row, I´ve received Adsense earnings four times (a year) that come mainly from one blogspot blog.
It´s not easy to be successful with Adsense and find a profitable niche with low competition. Although I don´t earn considerable amounts I´m happy with the few hundreds I get.
See you soon.

Music Monday Nr. 43

Hello fellows,
A new week just started and it´s time to post my Music Monday edition. This week, I picked a singer I already had featured: Roger Waters.
I really enjoy all his songs but the one I picked for this week´s MM has a special meaning to me.
The message for this week is "Don´t watch too much TV" and "Don´t let the TV be your kids´ babysitter" :)
Happy Monday everyone!

Amused to Death Lyrics:

Doctor Doctor what is wrong with me
This supermarket life is getting long
What is the heart life of a colour TV
What is the shelf life of a teenage queen
Ooh western woman
Ooh western girl
News hound sniffs the air
When Jessica Hahn goes down
He latches on to that symbol
Of detachment
Attracted by the peeling away of feeling
The celebrity of the abused shell the belle
Ooh western woman
Ooh western girl
And the children of Melrose
Strut their stuff
Is absolute zero cold enough
And out in the valley warm and clean
The little ones sit by their TV screens
No thoughts to think
No tears to cry
All sucked dry
Down to the very last breath
Bartender what is wrong with me
Why I am so out of breath
The captain said excuse me ma'am
This species has amused itself to death
Amused itself to death
Amused itself to death
We watched the tragedy unfold
We did as we were told
We bought and sold
It was the greatest show on earth
But then it was over
We oohed and aahed
We drove our racing cars
We ate our last few jars of caviar
And somewhere out there in the stars
A keen-eyed look-out
Spied a flickering light
Our last hurrah
And when they found our shadows
Groups 'round the TV sets
They ran down every lead
They repeated every test
They checked out all the data in their lists
And then the alien anthropologists
Admitted they were still perplexed
But on eliminating every other reason
For our sad demise
They logged the only explanation left
This species has amused itself to death
No tears to cry
No feelings left
This species has amused itself to death
Amused itself to death

PR Updates

We never know when next PR updates will take place but I´m expecting them to occur by the end of the current month.
As usual, I´m excited to know what will happen with my blogs but I won´t be surprised to have less PR in some of them because I didn´t work to get more links. I would be very happy and consider myself lucky if things stay as they are right now.
Can´t wait to see what happens this time. Wish me luck :)
As soon as I notice changes, I will sure blog about this topic.
See you soon xx

Back To School Season

Hi folks,
Summertime is ending, we don´t have hot days like in August anymore. "Back to school season" has just arrived.
My daughter´s school started today and I´ve been busy preparing this return. I already bought her books, a new backpack and some of the things she´ll need for school.
Today, we went to the mall to buy new clothes. Like most kids, she enjoys having new things for the first day of school and she really needs because she has grown a bit during summer. She´s excited about the upcoming school year and I´m happy she feels this way. Next year, if she finishes primary school, things will be harder for her.
This year, there won´t be a "back to school season" for me. I will tell you all about my student life in a future post.
Wish you all a good rest of week :)

Music Monday Nr. 42

Hello everyone.
For this week´s Music Monday I picked a group called "Within Temptation" and their beautiful music "All I need" live.
I´d like to dedicate this music to a friend I recently meet that reminded me of this great group I had quite forgoten about.
Happy Week to all!

Blogger Status: Quick Update

Hello folks!
This week, due to my job, I didn´t have the chance to do my Music Monday edition but I hope I can do it next week.
I have some news about my job and my student life but because those topics deserve a post each, I´ll leave them for future updates.
Overall, things in my life are doing good, except minor frustrations in my personal life that can be seen as normal. As some of you know, I´m trying to recover from a conflictual relationship that interfered in all aspects of my personal life but I think I´m doing a good job preserving my values and standing out for what I believe and deserve.
In the past month, I have neglected a bit my online life and invested more on my job and personal stuff. I think all of us (bloggers) deserve a break, once in a while.
As a consequence of my absence, my online earnings were lower than in previous months and I lost some good opportunities. Well, I can´t have it all.
This month, I hope to be online as usual. I have so much that I´d like to do on my blogs...
See you soon :)

Simplybe Online Store

By my profile picture you can´t tell but I´m a very tall woman comparing to my country´s average. I have 1,79 m.
Before having my daughter I had an elegant look but during pregnancy I gained considerable weight.
It took me a very long time to lose the weight I gained during pregnancy, specially because I didn´t have the habit to exercise. Because I am tall, I always had some problems finding clothes for my size or my number of shoes. Clothes xxl size were sometimes too big or to small, specially sleeves, trousers and jackets. I always had difficulties finding sleeves and trousers´ legs that suit me until I found plus size women clothing catalogs. One of my favorite Clothing Catalgoue is "Simplybe" because it includes models that were designed considering tall women ´s sizes and body proportions, not only large sizes. Simplybe is UK's leading direct home shopping company. This company operates over 20 catalog brands.
In Simplybe online store you can find fashionable plus size women clothing at affordable prices. The store also offers footwear and accessories. This online store has cool features, you can search clothes and other items available by size, color or brand. Then, you can enlarge items to check all details. What I like most about this online store is the clothes modern cuts, prices and the large variety of brands to chose from.

Music Monday Nr. 41

Hello everyone.
This past week I´ve been on a quite romantic mood. Some happenings in my personal life made me feel that way but not everything is a "bed of roses"... Some happenings were good, while others were filled with deception. Well, but that´s how life is.
For this week´s Music Monday, I picked a video with a live performance of "Realize", a song from Colbie Caillat.
Happy week to all!

Realize Lyrics:

Take time to realize,
That your warmth is
Crashing down on in.
Take time to realize,
That I am on your side
Didn't I, Didn't I tell you.

But I can't spell it out for you,
No it's never gonna be that simple
No I cant spell it out for you

If you just realize what I just realized,
Then we'd be perfect for each other
and will never find another
Just realized what I just realized
we'd never have to wonder if
we missed out on each other now.

Take time to realize
Oh-oh I'm on your side
didn't I, didn't I tell you.
Take time to realize
This all can pass you by
Didn't I tell you

But I can't spell it out for you,
no it's never gonna be that simple
no I can't spell it out for you.

If you just realized what I just realized
then we'd be perfect for each other
then we'd never find another
Just realized what I just realized
we'd never have to wonder if
we missed out on each other now.

It's not always the same
no it's never the same
if you don't feel it too.
If you meet me half way
If you would meet me half way.
It could be the same for you.

If you just realize what I just realized
then we'd be perfect for each other
then we'd never find another
Just realize what I just realized
we'd never have to wonder
Just realize what I just realized

If you just realize what I just realized

OoOoOOo

missed out on each other now
missed out on each other now

Realize, realize
realize, realize
