Yeap, it´s true. This week, I had Saturday off but once there won´t be any ophthalmology surgeries, my chief nurse decided to give me Sunday off, iupi!
For me, a whole weekend off is a reward.
Honestly, I think I deserve it because I´ve been a good girl at my job. I try to get along well with all co-workers, I´m responsible, work hard and I have never missed a single day.
I started working in the Sterilization department of my town´s Central Hospital last April 1st, next November 1st makes seven moths. Time flies, I already have 18 days of vacation to enjoy. My chief nurse already marked my vacations. This year, I´ll enjoy a ten days period and I´ll save the other eight for next year. I´ll be home from November 30th until December 15th. I´ll earn less money but I´ll enjoy fifteen days at home. Can´t wait for my vacations!
I´m thinking about resting and using some days to make a winter cleaning to get rid of some of my flat´s clutter. I need to organize stuff and I have old home improvement projects to put in practice. I also need quotes to put a new floor in my balcony, something I´ve been wanting for a long time. To do all this I need free time.
Tomorrow, there will be a Halloween Night Parade in LoulĂ©. My daughter already has a costume and wants to go there. I´m not a devil´s worshipper but I think it will be fun, just like the Carnival Parade. Maybe we will go.
A good weekend to all!

Tonight, I Noticed PR Updates

Tonight, after running a total system scan to remove the virus I caught while bloghopping, I decided to update my Portuguese blogs and noticed that one of them had a PR update.
For now, all my other blogs remain with the same PR as before. I was expecting a PR update in late September but nothing happened. I wondered if they had done any updates once I didn´t notice any changes.
I guess tonight, G is giving us a Halloween present...
I wonder what I´ll find tomorrow when I login my blogs.

Life Insurance Information
In my country, when you ask for a bank loan having a life insurance associated with that credit is mandatory. Banks have to make sure they get their money back in case something happens to the person that owes the money. Most banks have special insurance deals because they have shares in those companies. For example, if you have a bank account in a certain bank you can contract car insurance with a good discount. Banks and insurance companies are like one big happy family. They provide services together and both companies profit from it.
Another good reason to make a life insurance is to provide some financial security to our family in case we die. I can´t imagine how my daughter would pay my financial responsibilities in case something happens to me. This makes me think that her savings account should have more money on it or I should make a life insurance with her as my beneficiary.
If you live in US, and you need information about life insurance, you can check LifeInsurance.org. This website, recently redesigned, was developed to provide information and guidance about Life Insurance leading providers. This website does not sell policies to consumers and it´s focus is educational.
In Lifeinsurance website you can learn about the different types of insurance and search for quotes from leading US companies such as Transamerica, Northwestern Mutual, Gerber Life, MetLife, ING and HSBC. You can also search insurance providers by state and learn more about their services.
This website is a useful resource. In my country, we can only get quotes if we contact insurance companies.

Bloghopping: Caught Another Virus
Today I´m mad, and by the tittle of my post you can guess why.
My notebook got infected by a virus while making EC drops, again!
I had installed the free version of Avira Antivirus but, yesterday, after making my EC round my notebook became very slow. I performed a total system scan and found the nasty little bug.
So, tonight, I´m not going to do EC drops because I must remove the virus first. I´m not sure how long it´s going to take and if Avira can completely remove it. I´m new to this free Antivirus.
Not long ago, I had a similar problem and it took me ages until I was able to remove the virus. I had to reboot my notebook and lost many files and software.
I always return drops from my inbox even when I don´t know the logos and this is why I get virus. Maybe if I used a list this woudn´t happen but I like reciprocating and finding new blogs.
I wasn´t the only one with this problem. Our fellow blogger from Internet Musings caught a virus too.
Well, let´s see what I can do...
See you soon.

Two Days Off: My Agenda

This week, I have two days off in a row, Tuesday and Wednesday.
As I mentioned before, two days off in a row is a rare thing on my job. I should use this time off to rest because I still have flu symptoms but, instead of being lazy, I´ll use it to organize my winter clothes´ drawers. Winter arrived so fast...at 6 pm it´s already night and the cold season will be here very soon. I already noticed lower temperatures, specially at night.
Although I´d like to rest, I can´t just hang around all day doing nothing. I have to prepare lunch for my daughter and take her to school every day, except when I´m doing morning shifts. In those days, she goes to ATL and has lunch at school.
Today, I have a few things to do downtown. I need to go to the bank, post office, butcher and shop some groceries. After that, I´ll return home to my organizing projects. At 6 pm I´ll pick my daughter at school and return home to cook a nice dinner for us.
After dinner, if I have any energy left, I´ll be back online for my usual blogging nights.
Currently, I´m writing posts for my (new) Personal Finances blog and I want to finish editing old posts there asap. In the next few days, I´d also like to update both my Portuguese blogs.
Plus, I´d like to change two of my blog´s templates but can´t seem to find time for it. Well, one task at the time...without much stress.
Blogging is my hobby, I have pleasure blogging and it´s not a life or death issue. If I´m not online it´s because I´m doing something useful elsewhere. I´m a single parent (full time) & I work 35 hours every week in crazy schedules that include weekends and holidays. I have a life offline and I think all my readers can understand if I´m not around for some days, right?
One thing I´m sure I´ll be able to accomplish everything I want to do soon.
See you later :)

Car Parts
I have a 2003 Ford that runs on diesel. In November, I have to make the annual inspection and I´m a bit worried because I think the gases pipe needs to be replaced. I wonder how much this car part cost and decided to check online stores prices.
In my country there are few online shops but if you live in US and you need to buy car parts for diesel vehicles, you can check different websites for the best prices in the market. Without a middle men involved, online stores can offer cheaper prices.
Dieselpartspros online store sells turbochargers, diesel fuel pumps, injectors, glow plugs and other diesel parts for cars, trucks and SUVs. They provide car parts for almost every make and model and offer free shipping in orders over $50. Their website is very professional and has a simple to use feature to help you find the part you need.

Thank You EC Droppers!
Tonight, I spent over three hours visiting EC blogs. Dropping almost until I dropped :)
With so much diversity, I always find interesting posts to read. I enjoy checking updates and commenting on my favorite blogs. I don´t like to drop and run but with so many blogs to reciprocate the fact is I don´t have time to read them all. I would need two nights in a row just to read all 300 latest posts. I just read those posts that for some reason catch my attention.
Tonight, I also received over 300 drops!
I wish I could return all drops but, as you know, it´s not possible. After reaching my 300 daily limit I have to wait for the system reset. Tomorrow night, I´ll reciprocate the drops I wasn´t able to do tonight.
Thanks to all that drop & advertise on Night Clicks!
Your company helps filling my insomnia nights :)

Comfort: A Good Investment
The word "saving" is always in the back of my mind but the truth is I´m a shopaholic in recovery. I still love luxury items but every day I make an effort to be more frugal. Having a frugal lifestyle doesn´t happen from day to night. I have many spending temptations, huge ones, but I try to control them the best I can. Currently, my biggest temptations are comfort items and home improvement projects. I keep rationalizing and making excuses for this spending impulses. For example, I tell myself that comfort items are good investments and once I work hard I deserve them. The fact is we only live once and if we can afford it why not buying, right?
The best way to avoid spending money is locking myself at home because when I go shopping I start having ideas. For example, last Saturday, I went to Faro´s annual fair with my daughter. After a few rides in the carousels, we decided to look around tents. My favorite tents were the ones selling mattresses and massage chairs. I´m planning buying a new mattress but if If I could afford a massage chairs, I would pick Human Touch.
Human Touch® chairs are human-like massage that replicates the rolling, kneading, compression and percussion techniques of massage professionals. Their chairs have multiple automatic programs that allow us to customize massage area, intensity and techniques used. Human Touch chairs provide full-body massage that follows the contours of our spine and body from neck to foot. With this type of technology we´re in control of the massage experience. Plus, recent chairs are very beautiful, leather ones are my favorite.
Just imagine arriving home from a tiring day at work and having a private message professional at our service. A new good quality mattress and a massage chair are on top of my "want" list.

Student Life: I Finished My Degree!

It´s been a while since I last wrote a post about my student life.
In my last post about this topic, I mentioned that I had big decision to make regarding my course. You can read that post here.
My decision was to change to Bologna´s courses model and according to it, I finished my degree.
Last week, I went to my University and applied for the equivalences. Now I´m waiting for their reply.
If they accept my equivalences application, which I´m sure they will because this year I was second best in my class, I officially finished the first cycle of Bologna courses model, iupi!
This means I finished my degree and now I can officially introduce myself as a Psychology Technician, Dr. Maria :)
Although I ended the first cycle of my course, my student life won´t end here. This year I won´t be a student but next year or so I´m going back to University. Yes, I am. I just need to save enough money to pay school taxes than I´ll be back. My plans for the future include finishing the second cycle, which is equivalent to Masters degree.
I didn´t blog about Psychology before because, until now, I was just a student. Now that I finished my degree I feel more confident about offering my services in my area of expertise, which is Clinical Psychology.
I´m proud of myself and I wanted to share this achievement with all my blogging fellows.
Congratulations to me! It was hard but I made it!
Education & Carrers
In my course, I had a subject about career choice and development. It was very interesting to study skills, vocation, career choice and development topics.
If you ask me my opinion about careers, I would tell you right away it all starts when we´re kids and with the education paths we chose along the way.
In today´s job market, education is fundamental. Worldwide, the best paying jobs require very specific and advanced education but being a good professional requires vocation. People, in general, have better performances when they have a job they really like. Others are motivated by extrinsic factors such as paychecks. But no matter how much a certain job pays, I think the best way to chose a career is by analyzing skills, likes and dislikes.
I´ve heard of students that start a course in business schools just because they think they will have better paying jobs. Others chose a culinary arts business course to express their creativity without thinking much about paychecks.
In my country, education is a must when we think about high paying jobs but some people achieve success in professional life by starting a business. There´s no way around it.
Another path for success is to have an education abroad. For example, If I could follow College Chicago, I would have higher recognition than with a course taken in my own country. Many students decide to follow their education in US and when they come back they have better jobs.
No matter what education path we follow, the best thing is choosing with the heart. After all, we will be doing that job for a long time so why not do something we really enjoy, right?

Hello folks.
For this week´s Music Monday I picked D-A-D, a rock group that I first heard in early 90´s.
Back then, when I didn´t even have a CD player, I bought "Riskin´it All" DAD album in tape.
I haven´t followed their career but today, while browsing Youtube, I came across the song "You Won´t Change" and enjoyed it. They´re almost two decades older but haven´t lost touch.
Happy Monday!
You Won't Change Lyrics:
We're like two generals - tired of battling
We want to send our armies home
And all this time you've been my friend and saviour
So don't you think that I should know
You hide yourself to survive
You won't change and I won't change
The fire of love went up in flames
We both have eyes we both can see
There's no win in victory
You're coming through the open door
Against the rules, against the law
You brought the past to me - a trace of memories
The boy was happy , but the man is sad
We always hoped we'd stay alive and stupid
Never to be a "know it all" dead
That hides away to survive…
You won't change and I won't change
The fire of love went up in flames
We both have eyes – and both can see
That there's no win in victory
No hang-ups no signs of blows
You gave me directions now I don't know
You're coming through the open door
Against the rules against the law.

When I started Night Clicks, I was a blogging newbie. I already had my Portuguese Art blog but when I decided to learn how to earn money online I realized that I needed to blog in English. Blogging in English was an adventure that I also thank my blogging "Godmother", Rachel, from "Turnonepoundintoonemillion.com".
Back then, I felt the need to research more about blogging and blogging resources. It was then that I found all the Pro bloggers of our Internet.
While learning, I also shared most of what I found. As you can check in my archives, I have some posts about blogging resources.
When I realized that my personal posts received more comments that any others, I decided to change Night Clicks focus. It became a blog where I post reviews and personal topics along with rants. Well, I blog about anything I fancy, anything under the moon.
Although I don´t talk much about it, I have insomnia. I blog specially at night when the city is sleeping. I have this (problem) way of being since I can remember myself. I´m a night person and I dislike mornings. When I work mornings, I´m not productive and I only wake up after a huge dose of caffeine. That´s why my blog is called Night Clicks.
Starting more blogs in English was another big adventure. Most of my blogs are personal, what goes on in my kitchen (not much lately), my job, my mom & student life, my finances, etc. When I started my blogs I didn´t have a full time job like now but even so I decided to keep them. Although I don´t update them as much as I´d like to, each one is already a part of myself.
Here in Night Clicks, I decided to create another section called "Night Talks" where I post my "rants" about anything that comes to my mind. In this section you´ll find those posts that don´t fit in other categories.
Ok, after all this night talk, I´m off to Youtube to prepare my Music Monday post. See you soon :)

My Experience With Online Insurance
Because I own a flat and a car, I have different experiences with insurance companies. In the past, I have used mediator´s services and I contracted insurance policies directly to different companies. Recently, when I decided to change my car insurance I tried, for the first time, online quotes.
I was surprised with this experience because I was able to find cheaper prices trough the Internet.
I wasn´t sure about the quality of services provided by companies that only offer online services but I changed my mind the same day. After providing my personal information I was contacted by a company´s representative the same day. After I accepted to contract their services they sent me my receipts and contract by e-mail. A couple days after paying my first receipt I received all documentation by mail. Simple and quickly, plus I saved money. I had a good experience with this company and if you need a new insurance I would recommend you checking online quotes.

Hello, hope you´re all having a good weekend. Mine didn´t start very well, my post´s tittle says it all.
Winter weather arrived to Portugal along with rain, lots of it.
Last week, while working, I caught some rain and in the past few days I´ve been feeling sick. I have a sore throat and headaches. The flu bug got me good. I just hope I don´t pass this bug to my daughter, otherwise she has to stay home because of my country´s H1N1 prevention plan.
Today, I´ll be working from 8 am to 16 pm but tomorrow I will have one day off. I think I´ll spend it in bed, recovering. I really wanted to go to the fair but once I´m not feeling very well I´d better stay home.
See you soon.

In Summer, I always wear T-shirts. I have over fifteen T-shirts in different colors and shapes but once my wardrobe is not as big as I wish I don´t hang them in hangers, I keep them in drawers.
When my mother goes on vacation she always brings me a new T-shirt as present. The last one she brought me was from Egipt with pyramids on it.
I´m one of those persons that likes to keep everything, specially my old T-shirts. They´re full of memories from concerts and other good times. The last T-Shirt I bought was from my University course.
My favorite T-shirts are from music bands or funny t shirts like those in Badideatshirts website. This online store offers over 1000 designs and sizes up to 6xl. Currently, there´s a 50% off all designs promotion. Check the link above to see all designs.

Hello everyone.
Tonight, I spent a couple hours changing Night Clicks template. I was getting bored to have the previous look and felt like changing it.
I also spent some time organizing labels, things were pretty messy around here. I need to find some time to review old posts, one by one, and check links. This is a task I will do another day because it takes lots of time. I have 1078 posts to go trough, not an easy job but a required one. Probably, some links don´t work anymore so the best thing to do is check them all.
I also made a blogroll "cleaning". By the way, I´m opened to link exchange. If you´d like to exchange links with me, just leave me a comment.
That´s all for tonight. See you :)

Keeping Good Memories
When I was a kid, cameras were not as usual as nowadays. My mother used to take me pictures, at least, twice a year and in special occasions. She gathered all my best pictures and made a photo album to offer me. When I was pregnant, I decided to do the same thing. I started taking pictures of every special moment to make a Photo Album for my daughter. Once I didn´t have a digital camera I had to print all photos. Back then, printing photos was expensive.
In fact, I took so many pictures of my daughter as a baby that I made a few albums. I still need to buy a couple more albums to keep all the photos I took in recent years.
When I show my Photo Albums to my friends or colleagues, I realize that I´m not getting younger and I miss those days when my daughter was a baby so much. She was so cute, just like a bald-headed doll.
I was browsing the Internet for photo albums and found one shop that also has very cool day planners, just how I like them. Yes, I´m already thinking about my Christmas presents. This year, I´m offering myself a few.

Hello fellows!
I´m back after working a night shift this Sunday night.
For this week´s Music Monday, I picked a Portuguese group called "Silence 4". This group does not exist anymore and I really think it´s a pity.
After Silence 4 split up David Fonseca, the lead singer, started a solo career. As I mentioned in previous MM editions David Fonseca is one of my favorite Portuguese singers.
I enjoy all their songs but for today I picked a live version of "Angel Song".
Happy Monday!
Angel Song Lyrics:
This is me with another nervous breakdown
My pressure dropped, this body went with it
Memory fails, I'm feeling claustrophobic
I scream my silent pain in this big plain
There's no one here
Tell me who is there now
Who is there with you
I'm taking no calls unless it's her voice
I'm seeing no one unless it's her
I open the mailbox every hour
Maybe I'll hit the postman
I want to hear some love words
But not it that dyslexic voice
No I won't tear apart for you
But I was given no choice
I guess I was trying to keep me alive
But once I was dead there was nothing to do beside
Picking me up and lying me down
Waiting for some angel
To wake me and say to me
"Hello. Don't be scared. I want you to know, you're not dead."
Kiss me, is this a dream?
Should I believe it?
Please promise to me that I'm not going to get hurt this time.
Am I too good for you, am I just paranoid?
Should I clinical ou should I speak louder?
Maybe I should close my eyes for years
And wait for the strongest feeling
Out of all of the feelings
to raise
from
you.
Am I real? Are you real? Is this real? What's real?
Am I real? Are you real? Is this real?
Tell me, what's real

When I decided to go back to school I had to buy a computer to do my paperwork. More recently, when I passed to the third year, I felt the need to buy a notebook because most of my paperwork became power-point presentations. With a notebook and internet connection, I could research and write my paperwork at home. Then, I bought a notebook´s bag so I could take it with me and present my work to my teachers and colleagues.
Since I became a blogger, my notebook became my cherished and indispensable item.
My notebook´s bag was one of my first online shopping experiences and I was satisfied with my purchase because of it´s good price quality relation. Back then, I wasn´t sure if I should buy a laptop bag or laptop case but after checking different models and prices I decided to buy a bag.
If you need to buy laptop accessories, I recommend Gearzap.com.
Gearzap is a UK online store, owned and operated by Mobile Fun Limited, that has everything you need for your laptop at very affordable prices. Besides fashion laptops cases and bags they provide batteries, cables, chargers, external drives, headphones, locks, memory cards, mice, screen protectors, cooling pads and much more. They offer accessories for many different brands.
I´d really like to buy two notebook accessories: a new bag and a cooling pad. Due to frequent utilisation, my notebook´s bag zipper got damaged and now I can´t use the bag anymore. Since I became a blogger, I started spending more hours online and after some time my notebook becomes very hot. I think I really need to buy a cooling pad too. If I want my notebook to last longer, a cooling pad is a wise investment.
Now I just have to make up my mind which accessory I should buy first. I need both the bag and the cooling pad. I think I´ll buy the cheaper item first, which is the cooling pad, then I´ll buy a notebook bag as a Christmas present to myself. I´ve been such a good girl this year... I think I already deserve both.

Finally, I have a weekend to rest, iupi!
Today it´s my day off and tomorrow, Sunday, I´ll only work six hours from 6 pm to midnight.
In the past couple months, I always work mornings on weekends so I can´t go out till late. If I do, the next day I´m feeling like crap and when I arrive home I don´t have any energy left.
So, tonight I´m free to do whatever I like. I feel like going out for a drink but I also have so much to do online... Maybe I´ll do one of my night owl blogging nights.
I don´t want to spend money because the fair is in town and next weekend I want to go there with my daughter. Saving tonight to spend next weekend, lol.
A peaceful weekend to all, I´ll be back soon :)

Have you ever tried building a website with a free tool?
Tonight, I came across hpage and decided to try this system to check how a free website builder works. I created a free account with my e-mail and started using the program right away.
It´s surprisingly easy to create a hpage free website. They offer 300 MB of space, which is enough for a website with many pages, and have over 300 unique design templates to pick from. All templates have attractive design and a good combination of colors. Check out my cool website template:

With hpages you can easily build a website without having any coding or design skills because all you need to do is follow instructions displayed in a small pop up window. With this system you just need to write content because the website itself is ready in a few simple steps.
After creating your website you can add pages anytime. Plus, they offer many extras to make your website even better. Extras include own forums, newsletters, a member area, counter, guest-book, survey, contact form, pinboard, galleries, link lists, password protection and gimmicks.
Gimmicks are small additional functions you can add to your website such as snowflakes, right-click protection, analog clock, magic dust that follows your visitor´s mouse pointer, among others.
Hpage provides those extras with a points system. You can win points trough different ways. For example, each day you login your hpages account you win points, then you can redeem points for the extras you´d like to have on your website.

Yeap, it´s true. Right now, I feel like hitting myself really hard because I could have made much more money online than I did.
Some months ago, I joined Blogvertise, a blog advertising company similar to PPP that pays me very well for each task.
It´s no secret that I make a few extra bucks with some of my blogs trough this type of advertising. I don´t feel I´m a bad blogger for doing paid posts because I also blog just for fun, but that´s a topic for another day.
In the past weeks, I spent way too much time blog hopping, reading blogs/websites, researching and doing other tasks. The hours at night fly and when I notice, it´s time to go to bed.
Well, I feel like hitting myself because I totally forgot to check the website as often as I should to accept the offers available to me. Last week, when I logged in, I had over eight offers expired, shhh.
I sent them one e-mail asking to have those tasks reassigned but I don´t think I´ll be that lucky. You see, with this company we have five days to complete assigned tasks and if we don´t accept or deny those offers our account can be closed for inactivity.
I just hope they don´t close my account and this month I will sure pay more attention to this company. How could I imagine they had so much work for me? Well, if I never login, and if I don´t check my e-mail box frequently, I´ll never know.
If you´d like to join Blogvertise, you can help me a bit and click my affiliate link above. See you soon :)

Hello everyone.
The next few days I´ll be doing afternoon and night shifts...less time to be online.
Tonight, I just arrived from a calm shift. Well, calm for me. My workmates have to stay almost all night because there were operations and everything has to be sterilized for tomorrow. Lucky me tonight :)
After finishing my shift and before I come home I have to pick my daughter. When we arrive home we have a snack together and then she goes to bed. After preparing some toasts and a cup of milk, the first thing I do is turn my notebook on. My notebook is always in my kitchen´s table, the space that became my home office. I even have my comfortable office chair in my kitchen to do my blogging nights.
The weather has changed, last night I was cold and today I had to wear a jacket. Winter is coming and the rain season too. No more hot sweaty nights. This means I have to start changing my clothes from one wardrobe to another. Maybe this weekend I´ll start doing this boring task. Saturday I´ll have a day off and Sunday I´ll be working from 16 to midnight so I´ll have a bit of time to put things in order.
See you later guys, I´m off to my EC round :)

When I think about my country-home project, I start dreaming how nice it would be if I could choose everything as I like.
My home project is not complicated, I´d like to build a one floor wooden house without many luxuries but full of good taste details.
There are two indispensable things I´d like to have: a fireplace for cold winter nights inside and a patio with a barbecue and Outdoor furniture.
Once in a while, I buy home decor magazines and I´m always amazed when I see winter gardens with Patio furniture. I like wooden furniture but Wicker furniture can also create also create comfortable and fashion spaces. Combining resistant materials and fashion colors is the trick to create a wonderful outdoor space where I could relax after a working day or make a family dinner.
Home improvements are definitely one of my passions and although I don´t know much about fashion I would love to do my own decor projects.
The dream of building a country home the way I´d like it to be is achievable but I still have to work hard for it. While I don´t reach my goal, I entertain myself browsing home decor and furniture websites to check the latest fashion.

I have a Blogversary widget here on Night Clicks so I don´t forget when the next one will be. Today, I noticed that my second blogversary will be in 22 days.
Night Clicks will be two years old in less than one month, a milestone on my blogging ventures.
Looking back, I don´t regret a minute dedicated to this blog. I learned so much and meet so many wonderful people trough this virtual space that I would do it all over again.
I won´t be able do do a Blogversary contest all by myself, or something like that, but maybe I could reward my EC top droppers with some credits. After joining EC, my blog ranks improved, thanks to my loyal droppers. Trough EC, I also found (and still find) great blogs and became their loyal reader.
Anyway, two years blogging is a date to remember and without your visits and comments things here on Night Clicks would not be the same. I´ll try to come up with some idea to reward my special blogging friends.
See you soon :)

In the past couple nights, I´ve been online till very late. Besides doing my EC round and searching for new tasks, I´ve been working on my newest adventure, my second Personal Finances blog.
As some of you know, PF is a topic I enjoy very much and once I´m trying to make the most out of my own finances, why not blog about it, right?
I still have a lot of work to do in order to accomplish the minimum of posts I´d like to have on my new online endeavor.
As usual, while visiting EC blogs under PF category, I got a bit lost in time reading articles and learning about other blogger´s successes, failures and best saving money or frugal tips.
I really want to learn more about Personal Finances topics and find what other bloggers are posting about. With this type of research, I can improve my own blog and write posts that share my finances perspective within the Portuguese reality. While visiting the PF category in EC, I found a few interesting blogs. For example, I´m enjoying reading:
~ achingdebts.com
~ corporatebarbarian.com
I´ll update you on my progress.

Share Your Halloween Funny Stories
In my country Halloween is not typically celebrated but, thanks to TV, we have imported some traditions from countries like US.
Nowadays, many kids get dressed and play trick or treat. Many schools have adopted Halloween as a day to have fun, just like Carnival.
This year, my daughter is making Halloween masks in school.
The best Halloween story I can remember happened with my daughter. Last year, we bought her a witch costume and she played trick or treat with some friends in our neighborhood buildings. They only got tired of playing trick or treat a couple hours later.
When my daughter returned home she brought a supermarket bag half filled of stuff. I was surprised to see the bag so full. She putted the bag in our kitchen table and started telling me how things went while knocking on our neighbor´s doors.
It was amazing, some neighbors gave her candies or chocolates, others money and a few didn´t even opened their doors to my daughter and her friends. My daughter and her friends have nine years in average and although they looked quite frightening in their Halloween costumes they´re nothing but kids. The most amazing thing was when my daughter took a packet of rice out of the bag. She said an old laddie opened her apartment´s door and commented "Poor kids, they must be starving". The lady gave them a couple packet of cookies, bread and a packet of rice, which ended up in my daughter´s bag because no other kid wanted it.
This Halloween, If you´d like to have fun you can Buy Halloween Costumes Online or in a Halloween Store Near You and go out play trick or treat with your kids. In my country is guaranteed fun once you never know how your neighbors will react.
If you have a story like mine, you can share it at Jack's Quest. Visit http://quest.halloweenadventure.com to learn how to join this contest and see "Jack's Quest". By the way... if you´d like to vote for my story click the button below:

For this week´s Music Monday edition, I was tempted to pick a Chill-out music and ,
although I saved over ten video codes, in the last minute I changed my mind. This week, I´m featuring U2.
I had the chance to see U2 live in Lisbon back in the early 90s when they performed "Zooropa" tour. A great gig, indeed.
U2 are in my "Top 20 Favorite Bands" and the video below includes two great tunes: "One & Unchained Melody (Live from Sydney, 1993)".
One lyrics transmits some of my actual feelings towards my relationship with S. that´s why I selected this U2 song for today´s MM. The past haunts me like a revenge, lol.
Happy Monday to ya all. Peace & Love :)
"One" Lyrics:
Is it getting better
Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you now
You got someone to blame
You say...
One love
One life
When it's one need
In the night
One love
We get to share it
Leaves you baby if you
Don't care for it
Did I disappoint you
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's...
Too late
Tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One...
Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head
Did I ask too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing
Now it's all I got
We're one
But we're not the same
Well we
Hurt each other
Then we do it again
You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt
One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One...life
One

Or do you feel the same
Will it make it easier on you now
You got someone to blame
You say...
One love
One life
When it's one need
In the night
One love
We get to share it
Leaves you baby if you
Don't care for it
Did I disappoint you
Or leave a bad taste in your mouth
You act like you never had love
And you want me to go without
Well it's...
Too late
Tonight
To drag the past out into the light
We're one, but we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One...
Have you come here for forgiveness
Have you come to raise the dead
Have you come here to play Jesus
To the lepers in your head
Did I ask too much
More than a lot
You gave me nothing
Now it's all I got
We're one
But we're not the same
Well we
Hurt each other
Then we do it again
You say
Love is a temple
Love a higher law
Love is a temple
Love the higher law
You ask me to enter
But then you make me crawl
And I can't be holding on
To what you got
When all you got is hurt
One love
One blood
One life
You got to do what you should
One life
With each other
Sisters
Brothers
One life
But we're not the same
We get to
Carry each other
Carry each other
One...life

My Diet Story

For me, losing weight without restrictive diets has been an old battle. I´m a foodie and adore sweets but since I started working at the hospital I lost over 10 Kg. That´s a lot of weight lost in seven months. All my friends notice and comment my new look and now that Winter is approaching, I have to renovate my wardrobe because my clothes are too big for me now.
To lose weight, I didn´t use any special diet. I just reduced food intake, specially sweets and fat, and started making more small meals. I walk much more than before and exercise while I´m working. Plus, I started replacing some meals with fruits and protein bars. I also replaced some meat meals for fish and I prefer soups or salads for lunch. For breakfast, I have cereals instead of white bread.
After using these tips for a few months, I started noticing a difference in my clothes. Now, after losing over 12 Kg my worry is to keep my weight and don´t regain what I have lost. I know it´s hard to lose more weight but I´ll keep trying. Persistence and motivation are very important in any diet. Now that I have 85 Kg, my goal is to reach 80 Kg.

While making my EC round, I read a post which message was: "Boring people get bored easily".
I don´t recall in which blog I read these words and I´m sorry not to credit the author but, tonight, I remembered this idea and decided to write something about it. In fact, I´m writing as I´m thinking despite thinking faster than I write.
I couldn´t agree more with those words. Boring people often complain they´re bored.
I´m always complaining that time is never enough but I´m rarely bored. Usually, I´m entertained with something or with my own thoughts. Although I have impulsive tendencies I enjoy analyzing things. I´m always projecting something I´d like to do, even if I can´t find time to do it.
I also speak a lot and probably think too much too but this doesn´t mean I´m not a boring person to some. The bottom line is I enjoy myself even when I´m alone and rarely get bored. You see, there´s so much to do both online and offline that I don´t picture myself bored. On the other hand, some people bore me.
The same happens with some people I talk to. After a few, they´re out of words. They don´t have substance to keep interesting conversations going. Many don´t know how to express their feelings. They run around in circles and always get stuck when it comes to expressing their own feelings. Maybe they don´t know how they feel or just can´t find words to describe it. This I can understand, some feelings are speechless and words don´t seem to express them but if you´re a person with "substance" and a rich inner world you rarely get bored or lack words.
Once, a friend told me that I always have something to say. Yes, I could talk all night without getting bored. I do speak a lot but my words are rarely empty.
So, I couldn´t agree more with the idea above: "Boring people get bored easily" and I would add "Boring people often bore me".
While writing this post, I just remembered I still haven´t picked a song for my next Music Monday. See, rarely bored :)
A good Sunday to all!

Typhoon "Ondoy" caused so much destruction...
According to my friend Metz, from Empty Streets Blog, there were over 300,000 people that lost their homes. They sure need all the help and support they can get.
If you would like to help Ondoy victims, it´s not too late. You can check the drop off areas designated for Ondoy victims donations.
Google also has created a page with important information you can check.
A small contribute can make all the difference for someone in need.
Finances Topics
As some of you know, personal finances is a topic I enjoy although I´m still learning how to better manage my own finances. After my break up I had to rethink all my plans for the future and adapt to my current reality.
I´m always looking to learn more and I enjoy reading personal finances websites.
Recently, I came across a website that provides information about financial topics such as savings accounts, credit cards, insurance, mortgage and CD rates. Bankcdrate is a website which was created to help finding the best CD rates online but it also provides information for all US users that care about saving money topics.

Rambling: The Past is in the Past

Yeap, why can´t we let go?
Why does the past keeps haunting me, like a revenge. I did what I did, and that can´t be changed. If I could change the past, maybe I would change some things but the fact is I can´t.
I want to think about the future and the things I still can do. I want to be positive, I need to believe that I still can be happy. I can´t just be stuck in the past, I want to live the present and think about the future, is it so hard to understand?
Why can´t you let go?
Why don´t you live the present according to what you feel? Why don´t you do what you really want to do?
Why so much preconception? Why so much prejudice? Why, Why, Why?
Who stops you from doing what you want? Do you live your own life according to your own feelings or you are governed by others´ opinions? What others think is right is that important to you? We can´t please everyone around us but we can please ourselves.
Be yourself, live your feelings, change the future if you have to but, please..., don´t be stuck in the past!

Today, I received a sad message. A friend I had meet fourteen years ago, when I first came to Algarve, passed away this weekend. L. was fighting breast cancer for some years now.
It´s really sad, she was still a young lady and so full of life. I will always remember the meals we cooked together and the good times we had.
Where ever you are now L, rest in peace.

If you´re looking for a cheap insurance but you want the best policy coverage you can get you need to check different quotes. Hello everyone.
Hope you all had a good weekend. I spent most of my weekend working plus today, a national holiday. Now, I´ll have two days off in a row, iupi!
Last week I worked 43 hours so I think I really deserve two days in a row to rest.
For this week´s Music Monday, I picked a group called "Mana" and the song "Manda una SenĂŁl" (Send me a signal, love). I dedicate this song to S.
I enjoy most of Mana´s songs and although they sing in Spanish I bet you´ll like them too. If you do, check out Mana´s live concerts videos on Youtube, they´re awesome.
Happy Monday to all!

no me quiero derrumbar
hey, dime dime tell me too, cuando seas libre mi amor
hay, no lo puedo soportar
no me quiero derrumbar
mandame un mensaje una señal
mandame tu luz amor
manda una señal amor
vivir, sin ti vivir, estarse muriendo sin morir,
estar, sin ti estar, estarse muriendo sin morir,
amor, donde estaras, manda un mensaje una señal,
y no, no parare, no vivire sin ti amor... NO!

If you read my other blogs you know I love animals, specially cats and dogs. I usually feed some abandoned cats that live on my street.
If we all could do something to help abandoned animals, there would not be so many living on the streets. In my country there are many street cats and dogs. In the area I live there are only a couple shelters but there´s a very interesting project dedicated to sea animals.
I would be happy if I we had an organization such as the American Animal Care Center
(AACC). This organization, founded in 1986 by Dr. Dharam P. Salwan, is a small animal practice in Fremont which provides free veterinary services to injured pets found in the streets. With the help of the Wildlife Fund, the center also assists in treating, rehabilitating, and adopting these pets.
The AACC was already distinguished with some awards such as "Small Business of the Year", "Excellence in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery",
"Top Vets for Pets” in the Bay Area, and the "Best Animal Hospital in Fremont in 2008". If you live in this area of US and you need medical assistance for your cat or dog you can check American Animal Care Center profile to learn how you can get one American Animal Care Center coupon. AACC also has a blog dedicated to pets where you´ll find many photos. If you´d like to stay connected with American Animal Care Center, just visit their website.

September is Over: No PR Updates Yet?

Like many bloggers out there, I´ve been waiting for PR updates to happen this month.
I must confess I´ve been a little anxious about it. My income depends on my blog´s ranks. I´ve been wondering about this topic because we never know what to expect. And if this is true for all webmasters, because of G´s unknown algorithm, it´s even more for bloggers that do paid reviews, like myself.
September is over but I didn´t notice any changes. Well, not on my blogs.
Did you notice any PR updates in yours?
Can´t wait to know what will happen to my blogs...
See you soon :)
