Not That "Wonderful" Anymore

Hello everyone,
After a tough night shift, I´m doing one of my night-owl blogging sessions :)
As soon as possible, I will remove Project Wonderful ad boxes from all my blogs.
So far, advertising has been a good way to monetize my blogs but as all business, when you don´t see a profit it´s time to change or move on.
I took this decision because I´ve noticed a big decrease in advertising purchases in my blogs trough this advertising company.
Well, maybe the problem is my blogs but the fact is I only earned 10 bucks since I joined them, nearly one year ago. In the past couple weeks, their ad boxes are empty every day so they look more like clutter than advertising space.
MMO is changing, it´s time to look for new ventures.
See you soon :)

Blogger Stuff

Last week, I took three days off from my job because I wasn´t feeling very well. I went to the doctor, he prescribed me some pills and more rest. Sure...three days after I was back in work. My luck is a few many days off I´m having this weekend, otherwise I don´t know how I would handle everything. I´m tired, really am.
In the meanwhile, and because I´m well enough to blog lol, I´ve been working to improve my Portuguese blogs. I started a personal finances blog in my language and now I´ve been dedicating a few hours each day to my newest blogging endeavor. At this point, I´ve been doing background work such as Search Engine and Directories submission, Link Building, advertising and, off course, writing informative content. This blog´s already been indexed by big G and received free traffic from it, cool :), it means my keyword research was useful.
Apart from my blogging stuff, and one award I received from Mariuca and still have to post, I´ve been researching new MMO endeavors. I hope I find something worthy because the old PPP companies I was working for seem to have dried out. If you know something worth looking at, just leave a comment.
See you soon :)

Music: Roger Waters Tour

Roger Waters is celebrating the 30th anniversary of "The Wall" with an historic Tour. This Tour will pass by Lisbon in March 21, 2011.
Waters concert will take place in "Atlântico Pavilion" and tickets are already being sold.
I think tickets will sell out very quickly and this will surely be another great Waters live concert. I just checked the other players and Snowy Whithe will be playing too. I went to Waters last concert in Portugal, which took place in the same pavilion, and I really loved it!
Waters is in my Top 10 favorites and I woudn´t mind going to this concert too. I would "Amuse Myself to Death" :)

More Webhosting Information is Better

If you´re looking for a web hosting plan, in this directory you can check more providers and the best deals each company offers.
As you probably know, there are many different companies offering web hosting services and each one provides different plans. The best way to pick a good deal is to be informed about the features each service provides. If you want to make price comparison, you should visit a few different information sources before choosing the right plan for your website needs.
If you´re not a tech savvy, the whole process of changing from a free blog platform to a website hosting plan can be a bit overwhelming for someone who is just starting out. When I decided to make this move, I tried to read as many articles and reviews as I could.
With more information one can make an informed decision. As curiosity, while visiting the directory linked above, I found Green web hosting, something new for me.

Saramago

Last Friday 18th, Portuguese writer, 1998 Literature Nobel, José Saramago passed away in his home in Lanzarote- Canary Islands.
Saramago wrote romances, contributed to national journalism but was also a poet with a mind ahead of his time. He was 87 years old.
The first book I read from this author was "Memorial do Convento" back in my school years. At that time, I found the book too dense and quite difficult to understand for my age but a few years after I read it again and enjoyed it more.
Recently, I bought "Ensaio sobre a Cegueira" and I still want to see the movie based on this book. I´ve read good reviews about the movie and I think it´s already available in the video-shop.
Portuguese government has declared one day national "Luto" in Saramago honor.

Web Hosting Directory

If you´re thinking about moving your blog from a free platform to your own domain and hosting but you don´t know which provider to pick, you can look for advice in a web hosting directory. There are many companies offering web hosting services on the market and each one provides different plans so it can be a bit confusing for someone who is just starting out.
If you´re new to hosting plans, you´ll find that a hosting directory aggregates information on the best hosting providers. It also provides ratings, reviews, other users comments and articles to learn more about the topic. In my case, I started by reading most topics covered by one hosting guide which was very helpful for a beginner like me.

School Vacations Started & New Routines

Hope you´re all having a good weekend.
I had a stressful week at work so I took the weekend off to rest. The truth is I´m not that happy with my current job and that´s starting to show. I really need a change and I´m in a stage of rethinking my whole life. Maybe it´s 40 arriving and the necessity to live my life as I wish.
My daughter´s school vacations started last Friday. She finished primary school and passed to grade 5. I´m proud of her :)
Last Thursday, the school made a "Finalists" party for students and invited all parents to receive the Finalists Book, a projects kids worked hard for in the past couple weeks. Soon, these kids will start a new chapter of their lives in a new school with new subjects, teachers and mates so a finalists party was a cool thing to do.
Next September she´ll start attending a different school. This means that from now on our daily routines will change a bit, specially timetables.
The new school is very near our flat so I don´t need to drive her to school anymore. She´ll have to walk home and stay alone while I´m working. This implies being responsible for home keys, a big step for both. I don´t have many options, either I do this or I keep paying someone to babysit her so I think she´s old enough to try this option and see how it works.
I must confess I´m a bit apprehensive with this change, we´ll both have to adapt to new circumstances.
When I was her age I had to take a 30 minutes bus to go to school... Well, but those were different times (almost 30 years ago, lol) in a different place. The truth is I can´t keep my daughter in a shell or glass bubble her whole life :)
There´s nothing like trying and having faith my plan works. If it doesn´t I´ll have to find another solution. Let´s see how things work.
See you soon :)

Blogger Status: Day Off & School Tests

Last Saturday, I had a tiring night shift due to many ophthalmology surgeries so the weekend was a bit smaller for me.
It was my ex´s weekend with M. so I decided to have a day off only for myself. I had a lazy Sunday...in my pyjama for a good part of the day:) I had plenty rest and after waking up without any alarm clock ( a true day off, no clock alarms) I did my usual home chores: cooking, cleaning, laundry, etc. I also finished reading a book from "Bucay" I had bought early this month and did a small night blogging session. Recently, I introduced to Jorge Bucay by my good friend M. I enjoyed his "Tales to Think" book very much and it made me want to read more of his work.
Lately, I´ve been spending a good part of my online time reading Personal Finances, Retiring Early and Zen/Simple Life blogs/websites, all topics I´m enjoying more and more. You see, I´m reaching forty and rethinking/reconstructing my life:)
This week, my daughter will have to do the final term tests. In the last few days, I´ve been helping her. Overall, she´s a good student in all subjects. Unlike me when I was her age, she has more difficulties in Portuguese than in Mathematics. If all goes well, she´ll finish primary school and, next year, she´ll attend a different school very near our flat. Attending a new school, having a different teacher in each subject (until now she only had one teacher for all subjects) and totally different schedules means a big change in her daily habits. We will need some time to adapt but once that will only happen after Summer vacations we have plenty time to think about it.
My daughter school vacations will start next 18th but my next vacations will only be in August´s first week. My daughter will attend ATL while I´m working and in my days off: Beach and swimming pool, here we go! :)
See you soon.

Webhosting Blog

Internet is expanding and the same is happening to service providers related to this valuable tool for business and knowledge. In previous reviews, which you can find in the archives under the label Web hosting Information, I listed a few resource websites in which you can find different types of information. Some have as main focus other users reviews and rates, others provide articles, and information about basic website features. In many of these websites you can check hosting services prices and the different features provided in each pack. Some of these websites also provide a section with articles from which you can learn the basics of the business.
In today´s post, I´m adding another resource, a webhosting Blog. A Blog is a dynamic tool which is supposed to be updated on a regular basis. It´s not the same format as a directory. In this blog you´ll find not only the usual reviews of the best web hosting providers but also Web hosting industry news and the latest trends.
Overall, I found this blog´s content very informative and useful for any web hosting user. This blog´s look is the well known techno blue template but it´s very easy to navigate and easy on the eyes.
