Hope you all had a good weekend.
Mine was a bit different from usual as I had visits over.
My daughter spend this weekend with her father and had a wonderful time in a Jeep countryside gathering. The poor thing arrived home KO, had a bath, dinner and went straight to bed. A new week is starting and she will have more tests.
Once in the past couple days I have not work much in any of my blogs, I took a bit of Sunday night to catch up on things. As I´m writing this post, it´s still Sunday night here.
So, my recent online activities have been a bit dispersed, besides spending some time networking, I´ve been looking at Local search marketing info to learn more about this topic.
In one of my online digressions, I´ve came across an interesting Personal Development free e-book which, for now, I´m enjoying very much. If I keep the same opinion when I finish reading the whole book I will share it´s link here and in my PF blog as well.
This week, I will receive the reply for the job interview I went last Friday. I´ve been having mixed dual thoughts about this new job possibility.

Some Reflections About Links and SEO
As some of my usual readers know, Night Clicks is one of my oldest blogs in English and the place I call (joking) my office. It´s the only blog where I share my most relevant blogging experiences, what I´ve learned from them and my reflections.
I´m always interested in learning about SEO, PR, linking and new ways to MMO. In the link selling business, the green bar number is one of the most precious assets and exchange coin.
I´ve been earning money online trough paid reviews for some time now with the premise that I will always write about my experiences, opinions and thoughts. In those blogs I use this MMO format, content can be directed by the topics I have to write but I try to select jobs according to my blog´s limits and I only state true facts. In that aspect, I try to be selective according to my own "blogging ethic".
Lately, I´ve been thinking about the topic: "Links in and links out, how to find a balance?"
Both "inbond links" and "outbond links" count as a factor in the PR equation, that´s written in many specialized articles but I still wonder..how many?
How many links we should have pointed towards our blogs and how many are the acceptable limit of links out to other blogs/websites?
I searched for the answer, came across different numbers and I don´t even know how accurate this info is but a few resources stated that we should have no more than a certain number (40 in one example) of links out from one page. It´s logic and that´s why everyone should avoid link factories as a way to gain links. In the long haul, only "white SEO" will allow you to be in business for longer. It takes work to optimize a blog and get PR so you don´t want to blow it right away, right?
According to different resources I read, in a blog, the most valuable links out are from columns because, in general, those links appear on all pages and are supposed to pass more link juice than one link inside a post.
So...this is one of the reasons I stopped doing memos and other viral stuff. Not only I risk duplicating content but I also have to give to many links out.
I´m trying to find a balance because I would like to keep Night Clicks PR just as it is or even improve it. I used one future PR calculator I came across in a SEO website and it stated that Night Clicks could have PR 4. Yeah..but the green bar only shows 3.
Although I should work in having more links in, my blog-roll is pretty short these days and I have been networking with other bloggers much less than I used to. I think I have been pretty lucky in this aspect because I´m not an expert on any of this topics but my blog´s PR have remained the same for some years and, in some cases, improved.
The learning process will never be over :)

Job Interview
Hello guys,
Hope you are all having a good week. Here in my corner, it has been sunny most days. My yellow Narcissus sprouted into four beautiful and delicate flowers. Some Spring birds already arrived and the whole ambiance breads renovation.
This morning, I received a phone call for a job offer. I had uploaded my CV to a job website and that´s where they found me. I was completely caught by surprise by this phone-call but I agreed to meet next Friday for an interview.
I won´t disclose anything else about this job offer for now because this is only an interview, nothing´s guaranteed. For now, all I can tell is that the position might give me access to work in my studies´s area...and that would be great. So, I´m going. The rest is written in the stars :)

Continuing My Blogging Projects

Hope your week started in the best way possible. Mine started sunny and smoothly. After all the work I have accomplished this last weekend, I was needing a calm Garfield type of Monday :)
Today´s post is a continuation of my blogging "To Do" list I have published earlier. For the next couple months, I have two major goals in mind. The first is continuing the work I have done so far in what will be my second personal blog. I already have a dot com domain name for this blog but haven´t set it up yet, I´m still working on the editorial part.
My second major goal is using one other info domain I have bought last December and build a website to put it in good use. It´s been parked since I bought it.
I have always enjoyed home remodeling projects and decoration so it would be wise to use this "liking" in my next venture and build a niche website around this topic. I´m still trying to decide weather I should go for a more general or specif approach. So, these are my next two big tasks, along with new jobs that might come up and my other blogs.

The sun is back to my corner of the world and guess what? My Narcissus sprouted!
It´s official, Spring is here :)
In Winter time, I like to hibernate but Spring is a time for renovation, new beginnings and time to..."just do it" :)
So...I´m in a sunny mood...and because I´m a nature lover, this Sunday I´m posting a picture of one of my hometown´s greatest views. I took this picture back in December in my last trip there.

Night Blogging & Weekend Plans
Hello folks,
I´m blogging the night away so for me, it´s still Friday night :)
Fortunately, this week, I received a few work offers and I´d like to have them all finished before next Monday so I´m staying up late to work on them.
Thanks to these freelance jobs, I will be able to finance some of my next expenses so..insert happy smile here...the R.W. concert bill is covered.
Tonight, I typed with a friend about my online activities...something I don´t usually disclose or talk much about... and after our conversation I realized how important my blogs became to me. You know...I love my online time, my blogs are like a second home to me... and, now that I´m unemployed, being able to earn some money online from the comfort of my home is such a blessing...I can imagine how pro bloggers feel :)
About this weekend: This Saturday, I have a free agenda and plenty of time to do whatever I wish. One of my daughter´s cousins is going to live in Holland so the family is doing a goodbye party to wish him luck. My daughter is going to the party and will only return home after dinner. I´ll take the day off to rest and probably (because it just started raining again)..I will do one of my lazy afternoons... in pajamas :)

In the beginning of this year, electricity rates went up. This means that, in 2011, energy will be more expensive for everyone.
At the same time, Portuguese government established an “energy social rate” program for lower income families. This week, I received a letter communicating that I was included in this program. Due to my low income, I will pay a bit less than normal consumers.
In my country, the energy business can be seen as a monopoly with only one provider leading the market. Consumers here don´t have much choice, either they contract services from this company or they will be out of energy.
In the past years, I have taken some measures to lower my electricity bills. As some of my readers probably know, I blog about money and my saving strategies at my Personal Finances blog so I don´t want to duplicate content here by listing my saving strategies.
My saving attitude already saved me some bucks but now I need to adjust my utilities budget and look for more ways to save.
Tonight, I came across an interesting article about LED bulbs and how they can help saving money. I didn´t know about LEDs, I just knew about regular saving bulbs so I guess it would be a good idea to see if it´s possible trying them out on my current lamps.

When I started blogging, I created two separate e-mail accounts solely for this purpose and maintained one account for personal use only. During this years that I´ve been online, I´ve given my e-mail address to many websites and joined a few newsletters. With time, my e-mail spread and became a part of lists. Obviously, not all the websites I gave my e-mail to kept it only for themselves. Nowadays, I face the trouble of too much spam and useless e-mails.
Every time I open any of these two e-mail boxes, I have to spend hours cleaning them which already has become a burden to me. It sucks way too much of my online time already but I don´t see an easy way out to this issue. I could create two new e-mail accounts but contacting everyone to change it can also be an issue.
I´ve noticed that many Internet Marketing campaigns revolve around e-mail. E-mail Marketing can be described as fast and effective but it all depends on the recipient. In my case, it´s not that effective but that only happens because I´ve learned to distinguish e-mails I receive.

Today, I was listening one Youtube play-list which had this song included. I didn´t know it before but the music, somehow, caught "my ear".

My Blogging Tasks List
As I wrote in a recent post, in the past couple months, I´ve been working on a few blogging goals I had set in December 2010. My initial focus was on two of my Portuguese blogs and I´m quite happy with the results.
My major tasks were creating new content, maintaining the blogs (all the "backstage" work) and trying to improve advertising earnings. I also started selling advertising space in one of this blogs, privately, and already had a few quotes.
It took me 3 months to complete the blogging tasks I had set myself, more than I thought, but now they´re finished I´m moving on.
My blogging "To Do" list for the current month is less demanding and includes: renovating one of my domains that will expire mid-month, putting two recently bought domains to use, continuing updating all of my blogs, research new online opportunities to earn money and, in the middle of all this, checking e-mails, trying to catchup with my favorite blogs, answering comments and my EC rounds.
I´d also like to check webhostingpad and the advantages it might bring to my online activities. In the past months, I haven´t researched much. I was focused on different things but in February I´d like to dedicate some time to it. Sometimes, researching brings me new ideas for my blogs.
My time managements skills could also be improved. Lately, I think I´ve been spending way too much time networking.

Blogger Status: Rainy, Lazy Sunday

Yesterday, I had my daughter´s birthday party here in our apartment and it all went well. This year, my daughter decided to invite only girls and I think they all had fun.
I took some pictures, perhaps I´ll post them later. For now, I´m cooking dinner but after I´ll be blogging the night away.

Trying To Improve my Blogs

As I mentioned in a previous post, one of my current blogging goals is trying to improve some of my blogs.
I started by working on my Portuguese blogs. I decided to research ways to improve my advertising revenue and I´m pretty happy with the results.
For example, I started selling advertising space in my art blog, privately, something I wasn´t doing before. Plus, I had the goal to improve other earnings sources such as big G ads and found a way. By using the channels feature they provide, I tracked each ads earnings and found which placement was the best earner. Then, I reduced the number of existing ads in another placements and improved my earnings.
After this step, I dedicated some time changing my two other Portuguese blog´s layout and writing content. Now, I turned my attention to my English blogs. NetSource has a new layout and domain and now my focus will be turned to my Personal Finances blog. I´m tired of the current layout already. I would like to change it and find logo design ideas for a new widget.
I have two options, I can keep using free resources or I can buy someone´s services to design a new layout for my blog. Something with a more professional look. I have to decide between investing money or keep using free stuff, which quality is a bit lower and less customized. You see, my Personal Finances blog is not generating any relevant income. What I make there, does not even covers the domain fees, it´s a blog written much more for fun than anything else. I will have to decide this and see what I can do to make a change there. To change, only for better :)

As I mentioned in a recent post, I´m preparing myself to sell my flat and move to a smaller one. Downsizing is something that has been on my mind in the past couple years but only now I´m putting it in practice.
One of the things I´m doing, is decluttering and reducing my possessions. I have so much stuff on my flat that I´m thinking about selling some things. I have been researching online about free learning resources to make money on eBay. Maybe I could sell some of my stuff there.
While researching about this topic, I came across the website linked above. This website provides information and trough it I learned about eBay scams. I don´t know if alibaba is not a scam but one thing I have learned is that we should not buy fake gadgets online. There´s the risk of paying but never receiving what you purchased.
Do you have any experiences about e-bay, both as a seller or buyer that you can share with me? I would appreciate to hear from you.

Birthday Approaching
My daughter´s birthday is approaching. Next February 7th, my little girl will celebrate her eleventh birthday. She´s not a baby anymore, she´s already showing adolescent signs, but you know us... "chicken mothers" :)
When she turned five years, I did her first "real" birthday party in our flat. The party is mostly for kids, her friends, cousins and school mates. The party became a tradition and now, every year, it´s her favorite birthday present.
Throwing a party for a dozen kids is not that easy or cheap, specially now that I must pay for everything alone but I will do it anyway. The picture above is from last year´s party, let´s see what I can do this year.

Credit Repair
As you know, Personal Finances is one of my favorite blogging topics. In the past couple years, I have become a follower of a number of PF websites and blogs. The majority of the websites I follow are American and although their reality is different from mine, I enjoy learning how things work overseas. Sometimes, I also find new ideas to save money which can be applied to my own life.
Recently, I was reading an article about bad credit reputation and learned that, in some countries, there are credit repair companies. These companies provide services which can help people repairing their credit score both in short and long term.
In my country, things work a bit different. Once you gain a bad credit reputation it´s not easy to repair it unless you pay all the debts and even then you have to wait a few years until the records in the central bank are deleted. I guess we´re a bit behind in this type of useful services.

Posting Videos That Fit In Your Blog
Last December, I wrote a short tutorial here in Night Clicks on how to change a video html code so it fits the blog´s posting width.
I wrote this post because, while bloghopping trough EC, I came across a number of blogs with videos which were too big making the blog look a bit messed up.
A few days later, I came across a tutorial for blogger which is more detailed than mine with images and all. This tutorial applies only to blogger platform but if you still have questions on how to reseize a video, check it out at this url:
