My Plans For The Last Day of 2008
Today´s the last day of this year and here I am, working.
At least, I´m working on something I enjoy and although a bit tired, I´m also happy :)
I finished refreshing my food blog´ look and now I feel like doing the same to My Countryhome. It really needs a three columns layout to organize all widgets I have there but, for now, that task has to wait. I don´t want to spend most of this day online, my family needs me.
I like Christmas but I enjoy more New Year´s celebrations, it´s a happy party with fireworks and all.
My plans for this day are simple. We´ll have a family dinner with our favorite seafood and sweets. Then, we have coffee and socialize. At midnight we welcome the new year with a drink and watch the fireworks. Normally, it´s a cold night so we don´t hang out long, we prefer celebrating at home.
So, these are my plans.

Blogger Status: Changing The Look of My Food Blog
Hi everyone. I´m back to work on my blogs and my tittle sums what I´m up to right now. My Blogger Status messages are like longer Tweets, lol.
The New Year is coming but before it arrives there´s something I´d like to do. Besides posting tags and awards, I´d like to change the way my food blog looks.
Currently, I can´t afford a custom layout but that doesn´t mean I can´t change the actual one, right?
I´ve been looking for some free layouts in my resource list and I found a rather interesting option, more related to food than the actual one. Although this new layout has a thematic header, it can be changed later. I just need to find a new header with the exact pixels or buy a custom one.
Recently, while searching for design resources and trough Entrecard, I´ve meet some very talented web designers. They´re all so good that it´s difficult to chose one.
Well, in sum this means that in the next days I´ll be working on my food blog too. I hope the new layout works out well.

Some Personal Goals For 2009
Hi.
The end of the year is a good time to do a balance. This week I wrote a post about my blogging goals for 2009 but now I´m setting some personal objectives.
I´m not one of those persons that plans all details and gets frustrated when things don´t happen but I know I work better when I have defined objectives, even if I don´t achieve them.
Planning has always helped me. With so much to do it´s easy to get distracted.
Some of my personal goals for 2009 are:
~ Finish University - This goal is very important to me, that´s why it´s in first place. It´s almost a reality, almost.
This first semester I have been very lazy but in January things need to change. If I want to achieve this goal I have to focus more on my project.
~ Smoke less - To start, I´d like to reduce to 10 cigarettes a day and work from there.
~ Watch my Sugar blood levels - Sometimes, I forget about my health. It´s only when I feel sick that I remind of my blood sugar problems. This is related to my healthy food goals.
~ Go to the Swimming pool more often - I need to go to the swimming pool with my daughter. I´ll start by going two hours, once a week. When the weather gets better, I´d like to go twice a week.
~ Do my Office Renovation Project - My office need to be organized, fast. I need to buy some furniture to keep all my books. In the past six years I´ve been in University, you can´t imagine the amount of paper (and books) I have.
My first solution was to keep everything in plastic boxes but now I have so many that my office became a mess. I have to check furniture prices and decide what to do to turn this room into a comfortable working place.
Ok. These are some of my personal goals for the year ahead.

Alexa: No Data?
Hi.
Last week, I noticed that Night Clicks´ Alexa Ranks had decreased.
First, I thought it was due to a reduction of EC visitors with Alexa Toolbar installed but when I took a look at my EC statistics and found that the number of visitors had increased. I couldn´t verify if all EC droppers have Alexa installed so the question remained in my head.
While doing my EC round I read more info about this topic, Sasha Says Website had noticed it too but she sent an e-mail to Alexa. She received a prompt reply from Alexa explaining they were having problems with their service due to a new server. You can read Sasha´s post about Alexa ranks too.
After reading Sasha post things were clear, it was Alexa´s problem not mine. Yesterday, I found some of my blogs displaying "No Data". I don´t know if you noticed that but I did.
Alexa Sparky for Firefox displays ranks but some widgets don´t. I guess they´re still having problems because today I found the same, "No Data".

Learning How To Do Face Painting Designs
One fun activity many kids like to do is face painting. With a little imagination they can pretend they´re a cat, a dog, a fairy, a butterfly, etc. Face painting is a creative activity to entertain a group of kids. It can also be done professionally in different occasions, such as birthdays, theme parties and in fairs.
This year, my daughter received a set of face paint as birthday present. She was very excited about this present and wanted to use it right away. She wanted to be a cat but we didn´t know very well how to do face painting designs.

First, I´d like to thanks all who commented my last post for the warm Christmas votes. Bless you all.
My Christmas was great. We had a family dinner and after we exchanged gifts.
Today, after spending the afternoon with my hubby´s family we had a long dinner with my mother. Now, everyone went to bed except me.
I finished cleaning my kitchen very late but, because I´m a night owl, here I am blogging and doing my online chores.
After all the cooking I did in the past two days I deserve some rest and for me, a great way to relax is to blog a bit. Feels great when I don´t blog under stress and my favorite posts are blogger status. This posts are a type of therapy where I can write anything I want and talk as if I´m talking directly to you, the few persons out there who really read and comment my posts.
New year is another party day that I´ll spend at home, comfortably, with my close family. During this holidays I also need to work in my school project.

Tonight I had lots of work to do. I spent a good part of the night bloging and doing my online chores. I´m very happy that I had this reviews to make because this month wasn´t as good as October and November. In January I have school taxes again, this new opportunities are a great help.

With all this, I still have to go shopping tomorow. I have some last minute shopping to do and I need to buy some ingredients for Christmas eve dinner. So, tomorow I´ll be busy cooking. Probably, you won´t catch me blogging because my mother is comming to spend Christmas with us. When she´s around there´s no space for my notebook :)

My Blogging Goals For 2009
I´ve been thinking about my blogs and I realized I need to delineate a good plan for my blogging activities during 2009.
The first thing I need to do is create a realistic hierarchy of objectives and a new blogging agenda. In the next months I will have less time to do my online chores due to my studies. I really need to unplug a few days a week. This means I won´t have time to do the same things I´m doing now.
My MMO activities will be affected too and if I want to keep earning with reviews I need to establish priorities.
Before 2008 ends, I´d like to buy a domain name for Night Clicks. I should have done this change ages ago but I haven´t due to the last updates. Nightclicks.com was bought by someone else and now I have to find another solution for this minor problem. I´m also thinking about changing this layout again.
I need to write more personal posts in my other domain so I can work with it in a productive way. This will take time and effort but I´m positive I can accomplish this objective in the first months of 2009.
I also need to find another dropping strategie for my blogs. I won´t be able to return all drops like I´ve done in the past months.
This month, I started another challenging blogging adventure with Today Website. I tell you all about it in a future post.
In sum, my three major blogging goals for 2009 are:
~ Buy a domain name for Night Clicks and find new layouts for some of my blogs;
~ Define a realistic posting agenda to all my blogs and stick to it;
~ Write content for my blogs;

About Blog Advertising: Does Performancing Ads Works?
Last September, I wrote a post about some of my blog advertising experiences. In this post, I mentioned I was trying a recent network called Performacing Ads. I´ve seen this network´s logo in many sites but never saw many advertisers.
This network didn´t work for me and I also read that other bloggers are having problems. So, I quited this network during October because there were no advertisers at all. I have some questions about this topic:
If they don´t have advertisers why do I see their logo all over the blogosphere?
Does this network works for bloggers?
I only see the logo but rarely see ads, doesn´t it smell fishy?

Blogger Status: Health Update
Hi.
First of all, I´d like to send a big thanks to Mariuca and Monica, two great bloggers I meet trough Entrecard, for showing your concern about my health.
I have Hipoglicemia since teen. This metabolic problem has no specific treatment like Diabetes has. All I can do is carry a packet of sugar with me and eat very frequently.
Every time I go to a new doctor (which was the case today), they make me do this horrible blood tests and I have to spend the whole morning without eating. Normally, when I don´t eat for a long time, my blood pressure and sugar levels drop and I feel really sick. I always feel sick when I do the glicemia tests, in fact, I have passed out a few times.
Well, I have good news: I went to the doctor, a lady, and she didn´t ask for any exams. It was such a relief to hear that this time there won´t be any needles!
I´m not affraid of needles or have any blood phobia, I just hate all the process. I think a new glicemia test should be invented, without jejum all morning and that awful sweet milky thing they give us to drink.
Ok, so now I´m off to update my other blogs and get some sleep.

Blogger Status: Routine Checkup
Hi everyone.
This week is the last before school´s Christmas holidays. Most private service doctors I go to don´t work during Christmas, so I decided to schedule checkup appointments both for me and my daughter before that. My hubby also did a checkup last November and now it´s our turn.
So, first we went to the dentist, on Wednesday I had a doctor appointment for my daughter and today is my turn.
Although the weather has been cold here, no one´s sick. I just scheduled this appointments as routine and to ask for some prescriptions I need.
My daughter´s doctor said everything is fine with her. She pointed out that my daughter is well developed for her age but a bit over weighted. It´s in her genes, she was born with over four kilos but the main cause is she loves to eat and has a mother that cooks like I do.
The doctor also checked her respiration, blood pressure, ears, belly, feet and recommended to check her eyes soon but with a specialist. Once my hubby and I both use eyeglasses, sooner or later she might need as well. I know I can buy cheap eyeglasses online but I hope she doesn´t need them so soon.
Today I will check my blood sugar values and I just hope the doctor don´t ask me to take blood, I really don´t like blood tests, I get sick when I don´t eat for a long time. Well, it´s better to be brave and finish this checkup as quickly as I can.

Internet Explorer: Security Fail and IE 8 Beta
A Portuguese newspaper online, called Público, published in the "last minute news" (16.12.2008 - 14h51) that Internet Explorer has a serious security fail.
According to BBC Online, cit. by Público, this security fail enables hackers to access private information stored in our PCs, such as passwords, account numbers and other data.
Specialists advised to change browser until this problem is solved.
Today, after searching info about the mentioned problem, I found that a new version of IE was released, IE 8 Beta. I´m not sure if this problem occurs in this new version too.
Anyway, Internet Explorer 8 Beta is now available to most countries. You can read more info and download it directly from Microsoft Website.

Microsoft developed a fix for this problem. Check out Windows Update or Microsoft Website for more info on this fix.

I picked out the music "Somewhere Only We Know" because it´s one of my favorites. This video was recorded in 2007, and it´s from Live Earth in Wembley, a great concert.
When Keane launched their first CD, I spent all summer listening to it. I like both the piano and lyrics. I don´t know why, but when I listen to this music I always remember my plot´s countriside view.

Our Christmas Tree
Hi everyone.
This weekend, we finally found some time to do our Christmas tree.
I had a big list of things to do, including house chores, shopping & cooking, but we found some time to go out and buy our tree.
My daughter and Atos had a great time decorating the tree. You can imagine Atos running all over the living room after the Christmas balls, can´t you?
Well, our tree isn´t finished yet but by the picture you can have an idea how it looks. The next thing we need to do is the "Presépio".

If you´re a Night Clicks reader you know I´m always looking for the best ways to monetize my blogs. I like trying new things, learn with the experience, then, I blog about it.
In the past, I´ve joined a few advertising networks that didn´t work for me. I learned my lessons and moved on. As I mentioned in previous posts, Adsense is my best earner but only works for me in my niche blogs and I think it´s because I have some daily search engine traffic.

Dieting Formula That Works
I´ve been visiting some websites about dieting and I already learned some tips, such as healthy recipes and the importance of counting calories. Not all diets work, losing weight depends on different factors including habits, meals and general lifestyle.
When I think about dieting there´s one formula that stands out. This formula is healthy food combined with exercise. I belive that balanced meals combined with appropriate exercise is the best way to lose weight.
The problem with most people, me included, is we have a sedentary lifestyle. I try hard to cook healthy food but I don´t exercise much, I only do a daily walk.
It would be great if I could have home exercise equipment such as Bowflex, it would sure motivate me to exercise more because I don´t like going to gyms very much.
And you, what´s your favorite formula?

My daughter likes to sleep holding her pet friends. She already has a brown dog and a white lamb and she would love to have a bear to join her while she dreams. A great reason to send her to Portugal.

Some Bloggers Noticed PR Updates
I just read in a few sites that big G is doing PR updates.
I haven´t noticed anything in my blogs, yet.
One thing is sure, the next update is around the corner but the exact date the toolbar will be more, or less, green nobody knows, except G itself.
In the last update I was lucky, let´s see what happens this time. Well, whatever the outcome is I guess I´m ready to take it and just blog on.

Blogger Status: Mad, PC Problems, Again!
Hi everyone.
Today´s one of those bad days for me because my two years notebook decided not to browse at my speed.
Well, the truth is I got a bug while doing my EC round and since then my notebook isn´t the same. I though I had fixed it but no. Yesterday the big problems started, it doesn´t even accept a system restore.
I need to take it to "PC clinic", a PC repair store in Jumbo mall, but I´m a bit affraid of the bill.
At this moment I´m using my hubby notebook but I already received the warning "Let´s see if you don´t mess up that one too". Well, I´m famous for destroying video boards, lol.
In my notebook, I use two browsers at the same time, I guess it´s too much for this machines that are built to sell, and last only a couple years. This is only speculation, probably I messed up with search and destroy software. In an obsession of cleaning bugs, I destroyed stuff I wasn´t supposed to.
So, there goes my normal EC dropping for the next days or weeks. Once my hubby notebook only has IE, drops take forever. I´m doing my best to keep it up, at least with Night Clicks.
At least, I can blog and I´m happy for that.

Annoying Blog Advertising
Hi everyone.
Weekend arrived and for us, Portuguese, it´s going to be a big one because Monday is a religious holiday. I´m happy we have this hollidays, I need to unplug and rest a bit.
Now about my post tittle, have you noticed a strange laugh when you load some blogs? Oh my, Halloween is gone but Google has this weird advertising about the death test, to be exact it says, how long do you have left?
Well, I have nothing against advertisers but this sounds like a bad taste joke, specially near Christmas, doesn´t it?
Ok, this post was just a brief note about my thoughts on this annoying advertising (I feel like running away each time it comes along) and an execuse to wish you all a good weekend :)
PS: A naughty comment - Have you noticed that November only has 30 days?
How can someone make 31 drops in November, lol.

Blog Traffic - 370 EC Drops to Reciprocate in One Day
When I joined Entrecard, last July, I had no idea about the amount of traffic this blogger´s community could generate. In the first two months, I didn´t take it very seriously, I only did 150 daily drops with Night Clicks account and received 1/3 back.
During October, I started visiting EC blogs more frequently but it was only in November that I reached 300 daily drops with Night Clicks account. I also commented more and my effort´s result was clear: I had more reciprocate drops and comments.
This Tuesday, I started dropping in the morning but at night, when I returned to EC to finish my daily round I had 370 drops to return!
Now this is a problem I didn´t have before. I can only make 300 drops and I feel guilty if I don´t reciprocate. All I can say is sorry to those that visited my blog but didn´t get a drop back.
If this happens again I don´t know what to do. How to manage this situation is something that I still have to figure out.
