PR Updates

Today, I noticed that uncle G. did PR updates.
I can still remember last year´s Christmas "gifts" from big G., most of my blogs remained with the same PR. This year, my new info domain gained a modest but welcome PR 1 and most of my other blogs remained with the same PR.
I must confess that this year I haven´t done much link building. In fact, for some blogs I haven´t done any link building at all. This means that I can´t expect any improvements if I haven´t "worked" for them.
This update brought some changes to my blogs. From what I saw today using a free PR checker tool Night Clicks is now a PR2 instead of PR3. I´m not surprised with this reduction because I know that I have more links out than in. I think links are "the" big weight factor in the total result of the equation.
On a positive note my Personal Finances blog dot com domain, which has been PR2 for some time, is now PR3.
My Glass Art blog passed from PR3 to PR2 but this doesn´t influence my earnings from that blog because the biggest chunk comes from advertising revenue.
I still have to check my other blogs but I´ll do that later tonight. Right now I´m off to the mini-market.
See you soon xx

PR & Updates

Hello guys,
In the past weeks, I´ve been a bit "distracted" and haven´t blogged much, plus my notebook decided to act on me and I´m now using my daughter´s hp. This means I lost access to the files I had stored in my toshiba and, among other thigs, I´ll have to install my digital camera software in this notebook before I can post any picture.
Here´s a useful task to do tonight, it´s been a while since I do a "night owl" blogging session and tonight I feel like it :)
I also want to install EC bar, I really miss bloghopping and catching up with my fellow bloggers there.
Well, I guess I have returned to some good news concerning blog ranks.
I noticed PR updates in some of my blogs and, although I haven´t done much link building or published new content and my Alexa stats decreased (considering that traffic counts for ranks, this update was beneficial.
The best news comes from my personal finances blog, Mizé Journey, is now PR3. My Netsource (new domain) is now PR 1, and my Portuguese food blog is now PR 2. All my other blogs have the same rank as before, My Countryhome, Portuguese Menu, and my Art blog are PR 3 and my other blogs remained as PR1.
Well, blogging is a "neverending" story and trying to keep up so many blogs is a bit crazy but I really enjoy it :)
See you xxx

PS: After I wrote this post, the ranks changed again and my personal finances blog went back to PR2...oh well...

It´s All About Links

As you probably know, SEO is a blogging related topic that always catches my attention. I´m always interested in learning more about it.
When I first started researching about SEO I came across so many articles and other online resources, some contradictory, that I had a hard time distinguishing real info from rambling.
"Content is King"..very true..but PR is so much about links.
Good quality content is what really makes a blog stand out, have traffic and readers but in terms of the green bar I´m starting to believe that links have more weight in Google´s PR equation than I first thought.
This is only a personal opinion, as you know I´m not an expert in this field. I did an experiment with free blogs and my conclusion is based on the results I found, my blogging experience and what I have seen happening around the blogoshpere.

Some Reflections About Links and SEO

As some of my usual readers know, Night Clicks is one of my oldest blogs in English and the place I call (joking) my office. It´s the only blog where I share my most relevant blogging experiences, what I´ve learned from them and my reflections.
I´m always interested in learning about SEO, PR, linking and new ways to MMO. In the link selling business, the green bar number is one of the most precious assets and exchange coin.
I´ve been earning money online trough paid reviews for some time now with the premise that I will always write about my experiences, opinions and thoughts. In those blogs I use this MMO format, content can be directed by the topics I have to write but I try to select jobs according to my blog´s limits and I only state true facts. In that aspect, I try to be selective according to my own "blogging ethic".
Lately, I´ve been thinking about the topic: "Links in and links out, how to find a balance?"
Both "inbond links" and "outbond links" count as a factor in the PR equation, that´s written in many specialized articles but I still wonder..how many?
How many links we should have pointed towards our blogs and how many are the acceptable limit of links out to other blogs/websites?
I searched for the answer, came across different numbers and I don´t even know how accurate this info is but a few resources stated that we should have no more than a certain number (40 in one example) of links out from one page. It´s logic and that´s why everyone should avoid link factories as a way to gain links. In the long haul, only "white SEO" will allow you to be in business for longer. It takes work to optimize a blog and get PR so you don´t want to blow it right away, right?
According to different resources I read, in a blog, the most valuable links out are from columns because, in general, those links appear on all pages and are supposed to pass more link juice than one link inside a post.
So...this is one of the reasons I stopped doing memos and other viral stuff. Not only I risk duplicating content but I also have to give to many links out.
I´m trying to find a balance because I would like to keep Night Clicks PR just as it is or even improve it. I used one future PR calculator I came across in a SEO website and it stated that Night Clicks could have PR 4. Yeah..but the green bar only shows 3.
Although I should work in having more links in, my blog-roll is pretty short these days and I have been networking with other bloggers much less than I used to. I think I have been pretty lucky in this aspect because I´m not an expert on any of this topics but my blog´s PR have remained the same for some years and, in some cases, improved.
The learning process will never be over :)
See you soon xx

What Happened To Regular PR Updates?

I have not noticed any PR updates or changes in any of my blogs or other websites I visit for a while now. Since I started blogging, I got used to see three or four PR updates each year but now I haven not seen a PR update in months. Maybe internal PR has changed but the toolbar hasn´t.
Page Rank is a website measure important for some webmasters and Internet Marketing but is still ignored by many. I think it all depends on each person’s online activities and goals. One fact is that the major search engine became so important that is now a verb.
Having a website with good page rank has more advantages than the opposite. It can help maximize your online presence, be quickly indexed by search engines, receive free traffic and attention from advertisers. Free traffic from search engines along with a pay per click marketing program can be an extra revenue for many webmasters and bloggers. From my experience, search engine traffic can be very valuable for Internet Marketing if you have a way to convert that traffic into money. I´ve seen results myself with an art niche.
Back to the point. What happened to regular PR updates?
Has anyone noticed any changes or knows what´s going on?

PS: Ok, I just visited a blog and came across a recent post about this topic. This blogger announced that his recent blog just received PR. So...this means the big guys aren´t sleeping :)

PR Update Time

Once the last PR update was made during the last days of 2009, three months have passed and according to G.´s tradition the last days of March were update time.
In the past days, I often though about this topic and I´ve been monitoring my blogs to check if any changes would occur.
Nothing changed for me, all my blogs remain with the same PR. I´m happy because lately I haven´t worked much to gain more links. In fact, I´ve been giving more out-bond links than receiving so I´m happy I kept my blog´s PR.
And you? Did you noticed any changes?

PS: Thanks Mariuca for bringing this topic up. Here in Night Clicks it´s a tradition to post about PR updates :)

PR Updates

Hello World :)
Hope you all had good Christmas & New Year celebrations.
Mr G. ended 2009 doing PR updates. I think updates were performed in December 31.
I only noticed changes yesterday. My Personal Finances blog, Mizé Journey is now PR 2. All my other blogs remain the same. I´m happy because my domain blog has now a better PR and I managed to keep my main blog´s rank.
See you soon :)

Tonight, I Noticed PR Updates

Tonight, after running a total system scan to remove the virus I caught while bloghopping, I decided to update my Portuguese blogs and noticed that one of them had a PR update.
For now, all my other blogs remain with the same PR as before. I was expecting a PR update in late September but nothing happened. I wondered if they had done any updates once I didn´t notice any changes.
I guess tonight, G is giving us a Halloween present...
I wonder what I´ll find tomorrow when I login my blogs.

September is Over: No PR Updates Yet?

Like many bloggers out there, I´ve been waiting for PR updates to happen this month.
I must confess I´ve been a little anxious about it. My income depends on my blog´s ranks. I´ve been wondering about this topic because we never know what to expect. And if this is true for all webmasters, because of G´s unknown algorithm, it´s even more for bloggers that do paid reviews, like myself.
September is over but I didn´t notice any changes. Well, not on my blogs.
Did you notice any PR updates in yours?
Can´t wait to know what will happen to my blogs...
See you soon :)

PR Updates

We never know when next PR updates will take place but I´m expecting them to occur by the end of the current month.
As usual, I´m excited to know what will happen with my blogs but I won´t be surprised to have less PR in some of them because I didn´t work to get more links. I would be very happy and consider myself lucky if things stay as they are right now.
Can´t wait to see what happens this time. Wish me luck :)
As soon as I notice changes, I will sure blog about this topic.
See you soon xx

Confirmed PR Updates

Yeap, it´s confirmed. Yesterday, there were PR updates. After making my EC round I noticed changes in some blogs.
I´m glad Night Clicks managed to keep it´s PR. Some of my other blogs kept their PRs as well but my recent ones gained PR. This updates brought some good news for me. My recent dot com blog already has PR1 and my Portuguese food blog has now PR2.
Once I had nothing to lose, I made a few experiences with my recent food blog. I like to make SEO experiences so I can learn from them. I know that PR is much more about links than in page optimization factors. With a few links of related blogs pointed to my blog and in page optimization techniques, I gained PR2. Not bad for a blog with only three months of existence.
So, if you want to get good ranks in your blog get as many related links as possible. I would like to find how many links I need to gain more PR in Night Clicks, I wouldn´t mind having PR4 like I once did, but no math can tell me that. It all depends on the websites where the links come from.
There´s one thing I can do: I can use my own blogs to provide links to my other websites. I just have to it in a smart way and with the right anchor text. With the amount of blogs I have, it´s easy to get as many links as I wish to my other sites.
Well, that´s all for now. I´m doing one of my blogging nights so I´ll see you in a bit :)

Some Bloggers Noticed PR Updates

I just read in a few sites that big G is doing PR updates.
I haven´t noticed anything in my blogs, yet.
One thing is sure, the next update is around the corner but the exact date the toolbar will be more, or less, green nobody knows, except G itself.
In the last update I was lucky, let´s see what happens this time. Well, whatever the outcome is I guess I´m ready to take it and just blog on.
Cheers.
