Adgitize is Closing

Hello folks,
I´m starting this new blogging year with more energy as I´ve recovered from the infection and been having plenty rest.
As my post´s tittle says, I just found that Adgitize Ad Network is closing. I´ve been an Adgitize publisher since it began but never upgraded to publisher or had many people referred by me so my revenue was pretty low.
I just visited their website to confirm the info and was informed that they will pay any remainder revenue earned before December, the official closing date.
I already removed the Adgitize widget from my blogs and as I´m writing this post they´re not showing ads anymore.
Last month I have decided to include Adsense in more of my blogs, including Night Clicks. So far, Night Clicks type of visitors don´t click much on ads but once in a while someone does so I´m keeping it this way to accumulate with my other blog´s revenue.
Well, live goes on.
And because this is my first post in 2012, here are my 3 major blogging goals for the year ahead: Keep up all my blogs, find new ways/websites of MMO and keep growing my websites/blogs advertising revenue.
See you soon xx

Writing Advice

I´m one of those persons which enjoys quotes, specially inspirational and about life & love. The other day, while browsing images on Google, I came across the above "writing rules" and think it´s worth sharing with my blogging friends and Night Clicks readers.
Lately, I haven´t been blogging and writing much so the picture above is kind of a "note to self" as well :) It´s also a reminder that improvement generally needs practice.
Now my inner voice is also saying...stop looking at the poster and go write something! :)
See you soon xx

Topics on my Blogging

The time to renew two of my domain names has arrived. Once again, I have to think about my blogging and what I want to do in the months ahead.
In the past moths, and due to the changes in my personal life, I´ve been spending less time online and my blogging is not as consistent as it once was. I´ve been spending more time in social networks and my blogging has become more focused on my personal blogs.
So, I guess it´s not worth renewing these two domains and, while I´m in the process of selling and moving from my apartment, it´s not the best time to take in any new online project. I´m having difficulties keeping things as they are right now. I realized that if I want to keep blogging I should focus my attention on my “bigger” blogs instead.
And when I say bigger, I mean the older ones I´ve been keeping which have more traffic and readers. All of my blogs are “small” blogs, I still have a simple webhosting scheme and I´m happy as it is.
It´s decided, at this time of my online journey, I need to drop something to be more productive and balanced. I´ll have less expenses and a bit less "worries" too.
See you soon xx

Blogging Resume

Hello guys,
You probably noticed that, in the past weeks, I´ve been more absent from the blogoshpere than usual. Everything is all right, I´m just going trough one of those times when real life takes over.
The moving and my personal life have been the major focus of my attention. After a deserved rest, I´m now ready and have the energy to implement the changes I´ve been planing since last Winter. You can catch me almost everyday on fb as it´s the only social network I spend time on.
Once my real life has been demanding so much of my time, I had to postpone one of my blogging projects. Early this year, I had bought two new domain names with the objective of using one of them for a new blog. I even got a web hosting plan for it but without time to write content I will not launch it.
I must admit this was not a brilliant decision because before I was having some difficulties keeping up the projects I already had in hands. What´s done is done. I think that after I settle down in the new place I will get back to on track with my blogging agenda. My Blogging journey has been a lot about learning with all my decisions too.
See you soon :)

Continuing My Blogging Projects

Hello guys,
Hope your week started in the best way possible. Mine started sunny and smoothly. After all the work I have accomplished this last weekend, I was needing a calm Garfield type of Monday :)
Today´s post is a continuation of my blogging "To Do" list I have published earlier. For the next couple months, I have two major goals in mind. The first is continuing the work I have done so far in what will be my second personal blog. I already have a dot com domain name for this blog but haven´t set it up yet, I´m still working on the editorial part.
My second major goal is using one other info domain I have bought last December and build a website to put it in good use. It´s been parked since I bought it.
I have always enjoyed home remodeling projects and decoration so it would be wise to use this "liking" in my next venture and build a niche website around this topic. I´m still trying to decide weather I should go for a more general or specif approach. So, these are my next two big tasks, along with new jobs that might come up and my other blogs.

My Blogging Tasks List

As I wrote in a recent post, in the past couple months, I´ve been working on a few blogging goals I had set in December 2010. My initial focus was on two of my Portuguese blogs and I´m quite happy with the results.
My major tasks were creating new content, maintaining the blogs (all the "backstage" work) and trying to improve advertising earnings. I also started selling advertising space in one of this blogs, privately, and already had a few quotes.
It took me 3 months to complete the blogging tasks I had set myself, more than I thought, but now they´re finished I´m moving on.
My blogging "To Do" list for the current month is less demanding and includes: renovating one of my domains that will expire mid-month, putting two recently bought domains to use, continuing updating all of my blogs, research new online opportunities to earn money and, in the middle of all this, checking e-mails, trying to catchup with my favorite blogs, answering comments and my EC rounds.
I´d also like to check webhostingpad and the advantages it might bring to my online activities. In the past months, I haven´t researched much. I was focused on different things but in February I´d like to dedicate some time to it. Sometimes, researching brings me new ideas for my blogs.
My time managements skills could also be improved. Lately, I think I´ve been spending way too much time networking.
And you? Do you use "To Do" lists for your blogging activities?

Posting Videos That Fit In Your Blog

Last December, I wrote a short tutorial here in Night Clicks on how to change a video html code so it fits the blog´s posting width.
I wrote this post because, while bloghopping trough EC, I came across a number of blogs with videos which were too big making the blog look a bit messed up.
A few days later, I came across a tutorial for blogger which is more detailed than mine with images and all. This tutorial applies only to blogger platform but if you still have questions on how to reseize a video, check it out at this url:

http://www.dressupyourblogs.com/2011/01/how-to-insert-video-from-youtube-in.html

I´m posting about this topic again because I still see blogs with videos bigger than the blog´s post size. I hope my post can help some of these fellow bloggers.
See you soon xx

Blogging Projects

This year is almost ending. Christmas is a nice time to recap, look back and plan for the future. Today´s post is a summary of my current blogging projects and plans for the year to come.
In late Summer, I had the goal to improve my Portuguese Art blog and start two new free blogs, one about food and another about Personal Finances. I achieved these goals and my new blogs are up and running. Thanks to them, my advertising revenue also improved.
For the future, I´ll keep working to improve all my Portuguese blogs. I still have a lot to do in that front and, as you know, blogging is a "never ending story".
During 2010 I did my best to keep up my English blogs as well. I dropped my first domain which will be replaced by a new one, dedicated some more time to my Personal Finances blog, changed My Countryhome´s focus and spent many hours reading. My earnings doing reviews dropped drastically but I kept working online doing things like micro-jobs, writing resumes and making translations.
This month, I bought three new domain names. One will be used for Net Source blog, another for a new Personal Blog and the third one is for a project related to home and fashion topics. Next I´ll have to pick a webhosting plan and start writing more content for these last two projects.
So, this is what I´ll be doing when I return from my Christmas trip to my hometown. A handful of blogging projects :)
See you soon.

My Current Blogging Goals

As some of you know, I´m the only author of a few different blogs. This is a challenge I enjoy and although I know I could have a better blog if I focused my energy on one alone, I prefer keeping my niche blogs as well. It makes sense having just a food blog and a personal one separately.
In the past weeks, I´ve been working to improve some of my Portuguese blogs and now, I´m focusing on my English blogs. I´m reformulating My Countryhome blog. I already changed the layout and now I´m making some editorial changes. My goal is to turn it more into a Travel blog.
I kept Netfreesource as a free blog and will (finally) install the costume layout I bought quite a while ago.
After changing Portuguese Menu layout and updating the blog more often, I bought a new domain name but haven´t used it yet. My goal is to use it for a blog about woman’s interests and I already did a bit of work on that but the pace has been slow. I decided that I will only look for website hosting options after writing more content for it. In this case, I haven´t done much domain names research, I just kept it simple. I came up with a name for the blog and bought the matching domain. I know that this isn´t the best way to do it when you´re looking for free SE traffic but that´s not a big deal for this blog´s purpose.
Plus, it can happen anyway, if single posts get indexed. I have this experience from one of my Portuguese blogs. The blog keywords gets some visitors but it gets most of it´s SE traffic by other ways which is indexed content, single posts. I use analytic tools to check this out.
So, I´ve got much to do in the next few weeks. Let´s see if I don´t digress much doing other things online :)

Thank You: Blogger Spam Detection Tool

Hello guys,
Not long ago, I wrote a post here in Night Clicks complaining how my Food Blog, Portuguese Menu, was being "attacked" on a daily basis by spam comments. I guess that´s usual stuff and a boring rant but the truth is: Spam comments still bother me and this is a topic that relates to all of us... Bloggers. So, here´s my share :)
I´m really thankful that Blogger decided to include an effective Spam detection tool in their platform, the one I use most and am more familiar with. Having to go trough so much spam was sucking my online time and even interfering with my editorial. (editorial sounds "Trés Chique", lol)
For example: Today, when I opened my Food blog I had 83 spam comments detected in the past few days. You can imagine how long it would take me to select non spam comments. After going trough a few pages of spam, the time and energy I had to write a post was gone. Now, with a few clicks, I can select all messages and hit delete.
So, for that, thank you!
See you soon :)

Blogging Projects

As I wrote in my PF blog, I´m facing some issues with my current full time job.
I think that after being out of this job, I´ll return to my blogging hobby like I did before.
In the past 17 months, my blogging has been reduced to a minimum. I focused on my PF blog and closed my first domain before it´s web hosting plan had to be renovated.
Once this is my current state of affairs, my future blogging plans include following the same path I was before I started working outside my home. I intend to split the surplus of free time to be online in a wise manner. My plans are:
1) keep working to increase ad revenue of my Portuguese blogs, a task in in which I´ve been successful and I´m already collecting the fruits of the labor;
2) starting a new domain blog for my MMO activities and keep my current blogs updated.
Add this to my other offline chores and you can see I already have a handful and that my winter will be full of fun blogging things to do. I think I´d better start thinking about a good url for my new domain name and read the latest webhosting reviews. Will keep you updated of any progresses in my current blogging projects.

Blogging Projects

In the past weeks, I´ve been thinking about my my current blogging goals and trying to reach some decisions I´ve been delaying.
Two of my blogs need to be reformulated, both need a new direction that will influence not only it´s content but also it´s current link structure.
In one of the blogs, I didn´t perform any changes yet because of SEO purposes but I´ll have to do something about it very soon. My plan is to delete personal posts and create a new content direction using a good part of the content that I already have there.
In the other blog I need to renew the domain, change the template and go back to it´s initial content focus. Both tasks require some time so I predict some night hours of work for the months ahead.
I´m expanding my Portuguese blogs as well. I already have two blogs of totally different topics that require some work but I´m thinking about starting a third one in the "saving money" niche. I´ve been researching it´s search engine optimization possibilities and I think it could be a good project. I enjoy blogging about Personal Finances topics and in my language there´s a reasonable number of monthly searches and low competition. I already wrote some content and now I think I´m ready to start the blog. It will require time but without work nothings is easily achieved, right?

About My Domain Names

Soon, it will be time to renovate one of my domain names and I´m still not sure what to do. The question I keep asking myself is: Should I renovate it, park it or try to sell before it expires.
As I mentioned in a previous post, I don´t have time to keep all my blogs and I´ll have to quit some of them. I have a good web site hosting deal and my online profits are enough to cover all expenses, including my Internet connection.
Once I dedicate most of my online time to my recent endeavors, the old ones have been left behind.
I wouldn´t mind working online full time but that´s only a dream. I have fixed expenses every month and without my offline job, I coudn´t live as comfortable as I do.
Soon I´ll have to make up my mind but I´m so confused. I could keep the domain name and just park it but once I´ve never done this before I´m sure if it´s a good option. Any suggestions?

Thinking About My Blogging Path

Since I started my first blog until today my life has changed in many ways. I started as a newbie and blogging has been a wonderful learning experience for me. When I learned I could earn some money trough blogging I started expanding my online activities and created a bunch of different blogs. Back then, I had enough time to update and work on all of my blogs and after two years blogging in a free platform I bought my first domain name. Then, I had to learn how to run it and how to deal with web site hosting.
I think all I´ve done in my blogging adventures was worthwhile but when I started working full time my life changed again. My free time to blog was drastically reduced and that lack of time had an impact on my online activities. Even though, I kept all of my blogs. I even bought another domain name and started new endeavors. Now, I´ve come to realize that my lack of time to be online has an impact on my work quality. I´ve been seriously thinking about reducing the number of blogs I have but can´t seem to decide which ones I should quit. You see, I know I have to do something about this but it´s so hard to let go any of them that I´ve been delaying my decision.
I´ve though about keeping my most profitable blogs but I don´t feel comfortable to follow that path. I enjoy blogging just for the fun of it and that´s why my decision to quit some of them is so hard to take. I have ideas for new blogs and maybe they are profitable but letting go my older blogs is like losing something I´ve worked hard to reach. Well, I need to decide what to do and I can´t keep this situation forever. If you were in my shoes what would you do?

Blogging: Decisions To Be Made

Not long ago, I´ve reached a point in my blogging journey in which I had to decide if I would keep blogging as a hobby or in a more serious level.
A more serious level meant buying my own domain and deciding which web site hosting option I should use. It wasn´t easy to decide because I was still a newbie and had much to learn about websites, html and other necessary skills to maintain a self hosted blog.
Although I decided to blog in a more serious level, and learn more about it, I kept all my other blogs. If you´re a blogger you know how hard it is to keep several blogs. I had to use all my time management skills to be able to continue.
When I started some of my blogs, including Night Clicks, I was studying in University and had plenty time to be online. In April 2009 I started working full time and other things changed in my personal life. A breakup turned me into a single mother with many responsibilities to fulfill and my free time to be online had to be drastically diminished. I couldn´t keep up with everything I was doing anymore.
Currently, I reached another crossroad in my blogging journey. If I want to blog for profit and for fun at the same time, I have to start new endeavors and give up some of older blogs because I don´t have enough time to keep them all. I´m one person alone, and I can´t do everything. It´s a hard decision because I care about all of my blogs but once I´ve got some "perfectionist" traits I feel I can´t keep things as they are at the moment.
In the next weeks, I need to carefully think about my next blogging goals. At the moment, my most profitable blogs don´t have their own domain but when I think about which ones to keep, my domains come first. It won´t be easy to decide what to do but I simple can´t keep things as they are right now, it´s overwhelming. Oh gosh, what shall I do?

How I´ve Been Spending My Online Time

First of all, I´d like to wish a good weekend to all Night Clicks visitors. This Saturday, I worked a morning shift and I´ll have Sunday off. My daughter just started Christmas school vacations and, in the next weeks, I´ll divide my time between my job, my home and my close family.

Now, I´ll carry on with today´s post tittle:

With only a few daily hours to be online and a bunch of blogs to run, it´s not easy to put in practice time management skills I have learned in my course.
In the past months, I´ve been skipping many online tasks I used to do and even declining opportunities to earn money. The main reason is not my full time job but because I find interesting articles and websites to read and I don´t impose myself any time limits.
I´ve been spending my online time mostly reading instead of writing content and investing time on my blogs. I´m not blocked, tired or anything like that. In fact, I always have topics to talk about... I think I´m in a sort of reading & learning phase.
My interest in Personal Finances isn´t new, it´s one of my favorite blogging topics. Lately, when I´m online, I spend a lot of time reading Personal Finances and Personal Development websites and blogs. If I had keep only one of my blogs, I would choose Mizé Journey, my "recent" personal finances journal blog.
Besides dropping ECs, reading the news, other blogs and doing a few opportunities, I haven´t been doing much more. I enjoy this flexible online routine and maybe soon I´ll give up some of my blogging endeavors.
And you? How do you spend your time online?

What Makes a Website Work

What makes a website work is a question I frequently ask myself.
My experience as a blogger allows me to draw a few conclusions about this topic.
A good web site development plan should consider a few different aspects such as design, content, traffic and search engine optimization.
Design is crucial, if a website doesn´t look good, visitors won´t feel attracted to come back. If a you want your website to look good but you don´t have enough skills to design it yourself, you should consider hiring web design services. There are plenty companies that offer affordable design solutions.
Content is king, we all heard this jargon before. I agree with it, I prefer visiting a website with good content and poor design and not the opposite. Juicy content makes visitors come back again and again and some of them may become your best readers. This leads us to the traffic topic. The more the better but you sure want quality over quantity. Traffic can be related to content. The better your content is the more regular visitors you´ll have.
Another good way to get traffic is trough search engines. SEO is a complex topic. You can learn it yourself or hire search engine optimization services. If you want your website to work you should not ignore SEO. I have a good example how SEO can work on my favor with my art blog. If it wasn´t for SEO I wouldn´t have as many daily visitors as I have.
So, a website can be successful when a combination of this aspects works well.

Blogging Chores

In the past two months, I´ve been so busy with my full time job and personal life that I almost neglected some of my blogs.
Now that I made the decision to return to my usual blogging chores, at full speed, I realized how much I have to do to catch up.
Running a few blogs and two domains isn´t a "piece of cake" but now that I entered this adventure, I don´t want to give up one of my favorite hobbies which is almost a part-time job.
Blogging is a very rewarding activity to me and I´m not talking about making money online. Other bloggers out there will probably understand what I mean. The truth is when I like one thing, I really like it... this is one of my obsessive traits :)
In the next days, I have to elaborate a "To Do" list so I can make time management plans. In fact, I have plans for all my blogs, ideas in my mind that I´d like to put in practice.
I will need some weeks to catch up but once Winter has arrived, I will spend more time at home and, hopefully, I will be able to stick to my "To Do" list.
I´ll share my list in a future post. See you soon :)

What If Your Blog Becomes a Radio Show?

When I´m driving my car, I usually hear a tape but when I get tired of it I tune a radio station.
There´s a Portuguese radio station which is my favorite because it plays recent music hits, news every hour and special programs, such as Top Music.
This radio station recently launched an interesting show that I´m enjoying very much. It´s called "My Blog Could be a Radio Show" and it´s about Portuguese bloggers and blogs.
They pick a Portuguese blog, read it´s latest posts and talk about the blogger. I think this is very cool. It´s an interesting concept that allows blogs to be known and advertised via radio.
Isn´t it cool? Wouldn´t you like to have your blog on the radio?

My New Domain Name

Hello everyone. I´m back from my daily duties.
As my post´s tittle says, I bought a new domain name. You might think I´m crazy and I must admit I am (but only a bit:)). I´m crazy about blogging and, if I could, I would blog part-time and spend more time online.
My offline duties stop me from going further in my online adventures. Blogging can be a lot of fun but unless you´re very lucky and dedicate yourself with heart and soul, it´s not a viable way of having a stable income.
I bought this new domain some weeks ago but I haven´t touched it yet or blogged about my plans. I intend to use this new domain for one of my personal blogs and I will use Google to host it. Google and blogspot allow me to have free hosting for my domains, which is a very good deal because it´s a reliable system. I don´t need to worry with monthly expenses and my blogs are up and running all the time.
I learned how to install my blogspot blog in a domain with a fellow EC blogger. She posted a very useful tutorial in her blog and, after learning how to do it, I think it´s a very good option for my blogging plans.
When I have news about this topic I will update you.
See you soon.
